It's a must see for anyone interested in history. The bus though was a nightmare, changed the time and venue of the pick up at least twice, very stressful.

Herculaneum always impressive . Pick-up and transport worked out very well. Were also overall very satisfied with the organization.

Herculaneum is worth a visit. However, this booking did not include an entrance ticket. So "skip the line" is not true. In any case, there was no queue at the ticket office. The ticket costs 16Euro. So basically this is just a bus service. I believe there is a 20 Euro return service from Naples to Herculaneum. I purchased the audio service guide. It was difficult to identify the locations the audio guide was describing.

A bus dropped us off quite a distance from the actual ruins at a bus stop and we had to walk there. There is no way to return until the bus arrives later in the day back at the bus stop. The ruins were great, but a head set was not given to understand what everything was. You can connect something to your phone by a QR code, but it was very difficult to follow, so we just gave up. Find a better tour than this one!!!

Herculaneum was amazing but save yourself half of the cost and buy directly from Tramvia Napoli shuttle bus located right outside the port terminal. The shuttle bus only cost 20 Euro and take you directly to Herculaneum, or 30 euro to Pompeii.. Viator simply contracted them, put us on their bus and charged us double the price.

I have had good excursions with Viator before, but this is not one of them. Yes, you get a seat on a bus to the Herculaneum ruins, but a return trip paid directly to the bus operator is 20€ return. Entry to the park is 16€. So quite expensive for what you actually get.

The bus service for this tour was absolutely terrible! They could not keep a schedule which means we spent a lot of time just waiting around even though they insisted we arrive early. For the bus ride to the ruins, we arrived 10 minutes early as requested but the bus arrived over 30 minutes late. On the return, we arrived for the bus 10 minutes early again, and the bus was almost one hour late. Even worse was that the bus personnel did not seem to care. Even though the ruins were spectacular and worth seeing, I would never recommend signing up to see them using this tour. Look at other options.

We had an incredible day learning about this lost civilisation. The ruins were amazingly well preserved and we were able to make our way through without battling crowds. The tour operator was very professional and ensured we were back at the port with ample time to board our ship. This was a great tour.

Finally getting there and seeing the ruins was fantastic! Please note that this tour does not include a guide for the ruins or a representative from the tour company to be with you. A "tour ruins guide" can be obtained at the entrance. We were quoted 120 euros for an hour and a half for myself and spouse. Getting there and back was very stressful. Valentina from the tour company was very helpful/supportive to take our many calls for assistance in getting there and back. As per the Viator directions the tour left at 1:30. We were told the day before, a shuttle would pick us up at a destination. We booked our train from Rome to Naples in plenty of time to make the 1:15 deadline. Unfortunately our train was late, we got another train and Valentina from the tour company got us transportation to the ruins. When completed at 4:15, you need to take a "Tram-bus" which is located 300 meters from the main ruin gates. We waited approximately 30 minutes. It took 30 minutes to get back to the train station. Give yourself plenty of time to get the "shuttle-bus" to the ruins. It is a little difficult to find the pick-up point....but as I stated, Valentina was helpful finding it.
