Very well organized, pickup was super punctual, we had a great tour guide, the food was good, and the excursion to Mount Vesuvius was exciting! All in all, recommended!
I have to preface some of the ratings I have left. We took a tour of Vesuvius and Pompeii today here are some pics to help prove it and I may add more to show Pompeii as it is amazing. We were 5 mins late to leave due to the less than 1 star taxi services offered in Napels ... seriously they are all crooks check out my other review on here about them if you want to know more. We had a guide named Luna who was very nice and patient, her knowledge seemed like she knew what she was talking about and gave off enough knowledge that if you knew nothing about what you were seeing you would have the general jist. Id say she was about 3/5 for guide. 3/5 knowledge. 2/5 for being a decent guide or doing anything above the bare minimum required. We went to Vesuvius and did the walk. Its not easy, they gave a short time to explore in my opinion only a little more than an hour to do it all. We are told we are going to have lunch but instead of eating on the multiple beautiful restaurants on the mountain side we get to go to a mall... like children to eat a food court... a food court. I dont know if you guys have eaten at a food court but I am not a teenager nor did I want to eat at a mall. We are given a total of 50 mins to eat and use the restroom. We are recommended a restaurant called Fresca by the tour company. We sit down to a less than half full food court restaurant and order pasta. I expressed to the waitress that we were on a tour and had minimal time about 30 mins at this point and the waitress responded with no problem 15 mins for this. Which gave us 15 mins to eat and leave. Well it came out in 25 mins and we had to leave and didn't get to eat. We had the meal comped after I made a fuss about not having the time and reiterated that I had to her we had only a bit of time. The manager had to get involved and was nice enough to comp us the water and bread we ate. Don't go to Fresco in the mall its not worth it. We spoke with Luna and while she did apologize we didn't get lunch and now had to walk Pompeii. Luna is not at fault for this and I am not blaming her companies recommendation on her I am explaining to anyone reading this what not to do. We arrived to Pompeii with out "archeologist" Vito. Vito is fantastic and why they are getting 3 stars and not the 1.5 star review these clowns deserve. Vito was solid and while I doubt he is an archeologist he is very knowledgeable about the site, he is fun, asks questions, shows a great majority of what can been seen in 2 hours. He makes sure people are active and engaged and made the Pompeii experience worth it. That being said I think you legitimately need 2 or 3 trips to Pompeii to see it in a way that you feel like you experienced it enough. I would love to leave a review on their website but if you check those pesky rules they basically dont post negative ones. Which would probably reflect a score closer to a 2. Don't buy this absolute bs. Don't give these clowns money. The last picture has Vito in it the tour guide and if you see him at pompeii hes gonna give you a good tour.
We were so looking forward to our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Naples with a first-ever visit to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. This tour option did not live up to its billing. First, we were told to meet someone at the cruise port security area at a certain time wearing a red cap. Since she chose to carry her cap rather than wear it, we were challenged to find her. The morning organization of all of the groups was also chaotic. It was as if the guide facilitators were surprised to need to organize so many people. Our Pompeii tour guide, Roberto, was late showing up which could have contributed to the hurried nature of the actual tour. Roberto seemed like a very nice person, but his fluency in English was not at the level of a tour guide for Pompeii in my opinion. At the time of this tour, we had just experienced excellent tours on this trip (in Athens, Naxos, Rome, etc) and we try to give as much grace to a guide where English is not his primary language. But he was impossible to understand. So we were needing to look things up on our phones so that the tour wasn’t a complete waste. The second half of the day was slightly better. We boarded a bus to Vesum Pizza for our pizza lunch. Two pizza options and a drink were provided. The margarita pizza was delicious and easily the highlight of the entire tour package. We did sit in one large group at one table and our family of 3 was unable to sit together. We then proceeded to the entrance to Mt Vesuvius National Park for the 3/4 mile hike to the top. We love hikes and in the hot July weather we were enjoying it; however, not much instruction was provided to others in the group as the grade of the hike is pretty intense. Our driver was also very nice but an extremely aggressive driver throughout the journey. Maybe someone else will have a different experience with a different guide on a different day, but I’d be nervous that if that’s the case, the quality and consistency of the experience is then not in a good place. I’d strongly recommend that one keep exploring other options.
Guide is a new one, we won't use him again. Thanks for reporting. Regards
Overall it was great but you advertise an air-conditioned mini bus ride. The ride there was excellent the ride back in the bigger mini bus was horrible!! The AC didn't work and after hiking the volcano an AC ride back would have made it perfect. We were sweating profusely in the bus, it was horrible. You need to fix the AC in that thing.
Pompeii moves you for the history, Vesuvius for the nature... an experience absolutely worth doing if you go to Naples...
Really great experience! Our tour guide through Pompei (Berny) was extremely knowledgeable and fun. However, communication on how the day would go was not there. We were questioning each step of the way. A lot of bus and group changes as went from one activity to the other but no real issues.
It was a captivating experience to learn about the history of Pompeii and hike up Mt Vesuvio. Highly recommend!
The ruins in Pompeii are breath taking and incredibly interesting. Our guide took her time and didn’t rush and made it easy for everyone I. The group to stay together. If you go in the late spring to summer beware it is HOT and not much shade. The hike to the caldera of the volcano is difficult with out the proper shoes. The Mounties slope is all sandy ash so steps are easy. The view from the summit is amazing and worth the trek.
We loved the tour of Pompeii which had an excellent guide and was very informative. We thought the pizza lunch was quite average (that's being kind). The vesuvius visit was great and the transfers out and back were comfortable and pleasant. Overall good value for money but not a very gastronomic experience
This was a very good tour. The guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and walked us through the city. We then had a nice pizza lunch on the way to Mt Vesuvius. But reminding to guide and driver that four of us had to be back at the cruise ship by six as we seem to be running late. They took there time finishing their food. When we got to the mountain they gave a meet time all but impossible for us to get back in time. We argued with them and ended up leaving the mountain at five for a 45 minute ride. We did make the ship and boarded at 5:55 after being dropped off and running. The driver got us there with aggressive driving Just to put this into perspective, the excursion was to finish at 4:30.
