Surprisingly different experience, going through the gardens first before going to the Pena Palace. Joana our guide breezed us through the queue to optimise our time. Sintra was nice to visit, very walkable with plenty of shops and restaurants/cafes. Finishing the day at Cascais by visiting some art galleries and getting a bite.

Honestly if you do nothing else whilst in Lisbon take this trip with Teiago. He was the kindest most interesting self effacing and knowledgeable guide. The sites visited were really beautiful and interesting but Tiego made the day an exceptional experience

It’s a long but worthwhile day! Be prepared to walk a lot and uphill. The botanical gardens are a must. Seeing the exterior of the castle would have been enough for us as you can still get a feel for the ostentasiousness and architectural detailing from the outside and avoid the long line. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much history! She walked alongside us pointing out facts as we moved thru the day. After an alfresco lunch in Sintra that she suggested, we stopped to see the Westernmost point of continental Europe. And then on to visit the charming Cascais. A full day of touring, bit of shopping, dining with our group of 6 it was 8 hrs of enjoyment. Highly recommend this tour!

Easy to book the day before. Nunu, our guide, was great, explained a lot and adjusted the trip to our preferences. Drove us along the coast and stopped in various places to show us the beaches. Definitely recommended!

Very good interesting along the coast, but also so hot that a slightly shorter day (I.e., skip the last stop) would have been more comfortable. The air conditioning in the back of the van was non-existent and those in that back seat cooked all day. Our guide did a good job, though.

We ended up getting an uber to the main gate. I was glad we only got a ticket to the main area as it was swamped with people and I couldn’t be bothered queuing in the heat I felt it was over priced for what it was and 10e to get the bus from the main castle to the town was a bit much. Constantly harassed by tuk tuk drivers was getting overbearing All in all it was a beautiful place just felt like tourists were setup to be tapped for money left right and centre.

We did the Sintra and Cascais private tour with Around Lisbon and it was the highlight of our trip to Portugal. Our guide Oriana was exceptional from start to finish. What really set her apart was her storytelling. At Pena Palace, she brought the history of Queen Maria II and King Fernando II to life in a way that made the whole place feel personal, not just another stop on a checklist. You could tell she genuinely loves sharing Portugal's history, not just reciting it. The whole day flowed perfectly - Sintra Hills, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais all felt well-paced and unhurried. Oriana was warm, professional, and clearly knew the area inside and out. This was booked through Mike McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services, who organized everything smoothly from start to finish.
