We were there for bike weekend. It was fun and loud. Had a great time. Stores were fun. People were genuinely nice.

Our tour guide was wonderful and kept us engaged the whole time. Sites were beautiful and the train ride was fun. The conductor on the train ride did a great job as well. However , we weren’t prepared for extra tip money for him so weren’t able to tip. That’s just a heads up for people in the future. Bus was very comfortable and clean. It was a nice experience and good tour of the Nevada side of the Lake Tahoe area.

Great tour!! Tour guide was well experienced and had thorough knowledge of the history of Lake Tahoe, Genoa, and Virginia City. Well versed in the cities history. A great cautious driver - smooth..quizzed audience on history of well known actors living within territories. Made a stop at Target for a quick restroom break. Train ride and conductors awesome. Had ample time in Virginia City for lunch and shopping. Great experience. We would highly recommend!! Keep up the great work Viator with tour guides and excursions. We love it!!

Had a great trip. A lot of history regarding VA city. We were able to ride the train as well as spent time in the town. The gun show in town is a must do!

This is not a train tour! This is a I’m going to ride a bus for more hours than necessary and end up getting on a train to nowhere for a few minutes that day. Virginia City is worth seeing for the shopping and the food. What is not worth it is an extremely long bus ride at 30 - 40 miles per hour the entire time for no reason. Never got above 40mph!!!! They made a mile take x4 longer than any reasonable person and almost killed a man in a crosswalk who had the right away. We prevented our bus driver from killing him by screaming since the driver was oblivious. He actually said I thought he saw us but turned into him regardless without having the right away. The bus ride was beyond boring with the only interest being celebrities who have houses here and how episodes of Bonanza (423) they filmed as well as random other ancient film created nearby. We did stop at a casino for a bathroom break on the way but the casino refused to let us in since we weren’t playing. Apparently the most exciting thing here is the black bears but we didn’t see any. It’s definitely better than the casinos here but be cautious this is not a train tour. This is a very convoluted shopping experience in a cute tiny Wild West town with a 30 minute train ride thrown in.

Excellent day trip to Virginia City from Lake Tahoe! Train ride was so much fun but know it’s only 35 minutes. Several on the tour thought the train ride was longer and were disappointed. Make sure you wear good shoes. The side walks are wooden boards and sometimes unstable. Just be aware! Great trip with plenty to see and do. Best BBQ is at Virginia City Jerky Company! It’s some of the best we’ve ever had. Make sure you stop by. You won’t regret it!

The seats are super uncomfortable, sleeping for a while here is impossible, they are not designed for the comfort of a long trip. The air conditioning is so strong that we are all covered up to our eyebrows, when we are traveling in summer!! Help!! But without a doubt, the worst part by far is the very high price; first, my ticket cost me €40, I was careful to buy a ticket that included a suitcase and a handbag, because I was going to catch a plane afterward, but as soon as I arrived at the platform (which, by the way, they announced 10 minutes before the trip, literally, everyone running), they made me turn around to pay an additional supplement of €40, it doesn't matter the amount by which you exceeded the suitcase or the size, I am attaching a photo so you can see how well it is specified. I feel ripped off, I bought an €80 first-class ticket and we are traveling in a rat trap, I will NEVER repeat with this company.

About a 90-minute bus ride to Virginia City with a bathroom stop along the way. The train ride there into the old mining area was interesting and the conductor/narrator was very knowledgeable and funny. Only about a 30-minute ride then you have several hours to explore Virginia City. Had time to eat lunch, catch the Wild West show and still do some shopping.

The Lake Tahoe area can be enjoyed year round— skiing in the winter, boating, hiking, and biking in the summer and fall. The mountain temperatures were wonderful in September.
