I found this tour on Viator while solo traveling in Guatemala. I had a morning and part of the afternoon to explore Antigua on my own before meeting up with my group for the Acatenango hike, so I was looking for something flexible to make the most out of my hours there. I honestly have to say I was thrilled and pleasantly surprised by this tour! I learned a lot of interesting facts about the city and its history that I would have completely missed just walking around and looking at the buildings on my own. It gives you a good base introduction to Antigua, and compared to other options out there, it’s also super budget-friendly. Once again, perfect if you’re looking to walk around at your own pace, learn a thing or two, and save a couple bucks. I definitely recommend actually going inside some of the stops as you walk and using what you see to complement what you’re hearing on the Roamer tour. I’d suggest carrying around Q100 in cash for entrance fees and little things along the way. I paid Q20 for the San José Cathedral ruins and Q20 at La Merced, and if you have time, I totally recommend visiting the museums inside Casa Santo Domingo as well (around Q50). Also, leave a little room in the budget for the fun stuff! The granizadas at Parque Central were SO good, and you’ll come across street markets and vendors selling textiles and souvenirs as you walk. Totally recommend this if you’re on your own schedule, and just want to explore the city while actually understanding what you’re looking at. Such a great way to get acquainted with Antigua, 10/10!
