Such a great experience!
We took the cooking class in the morning. First we visited the local market and bought some fresh fruit and delicious cake. Our guide, Wardani, was so nice and answered all our questions profoundly (which were a lot :D). After that we visited their farm and harvested the veggies for the meal ourselves. The cooking itself was very fun and the whole crew was very patient with us. We had a lot of fun trying it all out. The food was delicious and we could take the leftovers with us for lunch later on. After that Wardani offered to show us her home and her local village. And if that wasn't enough she took so many great photos of us during the tour and shared them with us.
We can highly recommend this tour! There are cheaper ones in Ubud but if you want the authentic experience and like to harvest fresh veggies for your cooking this one is worth every penny!

The most amazing farm and Balinese cooking experience
An afternoon very well spent that we would highly recommend to anyone interested in the local produce, harvesting, farming, culture and cooking within a family run business. My partner and I were the only two on the course and felt very privileged to have so much attention and support from the class hosts.
Firstly we were welcomed with a delicious ginger iced tea by the super friendly and enthusiastic hosts. We then had the most incredible experience walking through their wonderful family farm, learning all the crops that are grown and being taught so much from the knowledgeable and experienced workshop leaders. Not only did they explain many of the health benefits and properties of all kinds of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, but we were also able to try so many of the delicious crops. As we passed through the farm, we picked and collected the food that we would then later be using in the cooking section of the workshop.
For the main part of the course, together we cooked an amazing selection of traditional Balinese dishes, all the while learning more about specific skills and techniques that are typically used to create this cuisine.
The outdoor kitchen was in an idyllic setting, overlooking the beautiful farm fields. We then got to enjoy our feast which was absolutely delicious, around a large table with a gorgeous view. It was so peaceful and the perfect end to such a fun afternoon of farming and cooking.
Excellent value for so much knowledge, two course leaders, expertise, time, beautiful location and finishing with the most incredibly tasty meal! The hosts were an absolute delight, so friendly and welcoming and willing to answer so many of our questions. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and sharing this with us.

I got a glimpse of life in Bali and the wonder of nature.
From the time of the pickup, you taught me a lot about Balinese culture and life, and first, we went to the local market. I was able to learn about Balinese daily life, such as the types of crops and their seasons, in a fun way while being guided to a place that is rarely visited during regular tourism.
What left a particularly strong impression on me was the farm in the quiet mountains. I was able to see, touch, and harvest the vegetables and fruits that I see in restaurants. There was also feed for cows and carp, and a swing, so the children were overjoyed.
And dishes made with freshly harvested ingredients. I realized that a lot of effort and time goes into every dish, and I began to appreciate the food even more when eating at restaurants during my subsequent travels.
The satay was grilled over traditional charcoal, and we finished it by fanning it together. It was a fun but quite challenging task, but the meal we made with all the effort and time, enjoyed in nature, was exceptional!
It was a truly wonderful day, supported by so many warm staff members, allowing me to learn about Bali's nature, food culture, and daily life.

Best cooking experience ever!!
It's a positive experience that we would recommend to everyone. We started off by getting picked up and then driven to the location with friendly conversations along the way. After we arrived, we were given a tour of the farm, trying a variety of fruits and vegetables along the way. Before we started cooking, we were picking out things that we would be using in our cooking. Once we started cooking, we had very knowledgeable and experienced chefs who allowed us to taste things as we were going to ensure that by the time it came to eating, things were perfect. The food itself was incredible and it made Indonesian cuisine one of our favourites. We would recommend this to everyone!!!

Loved our Balinese cooking class at Paon Escape🍃
If you’re looking for an authentic local experience, I highly recommend Paon Escape cooking classes, located just north of Ubud (they offer free central pick-up points, which makes getting there easy).
The food cooked was some of the best I tasted in Bali, and being able to pick fresh ingredients straight from the garden was a real highlight🍃We learned so much while having a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to trying a few Balinese dishes in my own kitchen.
The staff were friendly and helpful, making the whole afternoon thoroughly enjoyable. Suksma, to the team at Paon Escape, I’ll definitely be back next time I visit Bali 🙏
