Amazing host. Brilliant experience. Highly recommend

We had an excellent time with this excursion. Matijas gave us a walk through tour of the Varvakios central market and a vegetable/fruit market just across Athinas. He also took us to Merlira honey & olive oil shop for a tasting. We then hopped in a cab to the cooking school's kitchen apartment. Irini gave us the basics for a complete, authentic greek meal. She was kind, warm, and patient. The lessons were practical, using a minimal number of pots and pans; the oven was even only ever set to one temperature. The dishes cooked in order all come out done at the same point, ready to eat. First was a basic 'pie' with feta & oregano. Alternative ingredients were discussed to make this dish versatile. Stuffed peppers were next followed by sausage, pepoers, and onions. A simple omelet with grated tomatoes was next. Pita rounds were seasoned and warmed in the oven as we made tzatziki. All was removed from the oven to cool as the greek salad was prepared. The tzatziki was brought from the fridge and nestled among the dishes we had prepared. None of these dishes were particularly challenging. In fact Irini said these are the dishes she cooks with her grandchildren to encourage healthy habits. We enjoyed white wine with our abundant meal and even brought some back to our rental. Such a pleasant day making food and new friends!

Exactly what we were looking for! This class with Irini was a complete meal, all timed to finish at the same time for an incredible meal. A simple feta/oregano pie, sausage with peppers & onions, omelet with tomatoes, tzatziki & pita, and greek salad. Our instructor, Irini was charming, patient, and made these dishes easy to understand and replicate. They send the recipes to you afterwards, in case you forget. We highly recommend doing this before you head home so you can take a bit of Greece with you to share with family & friends of course!

Irini was absolutely amazing! So sweet & helpful as she showed us how to cook traditional Greek meals. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so beautiful and relaxing. It was an incredible afternoon & experience with friends, no pressure, and easy recipes to be able to take home and cook again. The recipes were also so delicious and for those who worry about different foods, they were very simple taste profiles that everyone could enjoy (and Irini was very accommodating!) The market tour was also fantastic & informative - we were able to buy herbs, olives & honey and saw the real meat & fish markets and learn about the history of Monistiraki. 1000% recommend!

Irini was an amazing host! She showed us, included us, served us, coached us, and laughed with us. The meal was easy to prepare and I feel confident I could make some of the dishes at home. The food was delicious and the location was fantastic! We also had a guided tour of the market and our host was very helpful, friendly, patient and informative. I highly recommend this experience!
