Alastair is a guide extraordinaire. He taught primary school so he knows how to handle a crowd and provide historical information in a concise and interesting way. The meeting place was easy to find and we got an excellent overview of the area and the castle itself. It took about a half hour to get from the church into the castle, and the visit was timed so that we would be done just as the one o’clock gun went off. We appreciated that he started the tour on time and made latecomers catch up rather than inconvenience those who were on time or early. It was an excellent tour. It should be noted that most of the tour involves a lot of uphill walking, and some of the inclines are steep. It would not be appropriate for individuals who are not able to walk up hills.
Alastair was the perfect guide and made the tour fun. He was full of facts and knew his stuff. Would recommend him for sure!
