This went from a wonderful experience to my only negative experience in Italy, and I'm still kicking myself over it. I had a great experience designing a pair of shoes with the team, and was told that the base price of the shoe including basic design elements was 250 euro. An hour later, they were 1300 (ouch), but I decided that they were unique enough that they would be a wonderful souvenir of my month in Italy. When they rang up the purchase, I offered by passport for the VAT refund paperwork and was told they do not charge VAT because of the "art exemption." OK. Before going back to pick the shoes up a week later, I examined my receipt and did a little more research, and of course VAT was charged and was part of the 1300 total (286 euro). When I asked about this when picking up the shoes, they insisted that I was not charged for VAT, even though it was there in black and white on the receipt. I eventually emailed the company and they said of course VAT was charged, but that they are not obligated to provide the refund paperwork. This was, of course, a falsehood - per Italian law, they are required to provide this and enter the buyer's passport information. And that does not explain why the employees helping me were lying about the VAT. For the life of me, I don't know what is in it for them to refuse, but refuse they did. They whole episode really spoiled this purchase for me. And the rest of the story? The supposedly hand-made to my feet, hand-painted shoes are nothing of the kind. Off the shelf, screen-printed. I have no one to blame but myself for accepting them and walking away, but I don't want anyone else to go through this horrible experience. It makes me question the authenticity of all the great reviews I see on this business. And at the end of the day, I'm out the 286 in VAT that would have been refunded as I left the country, and I have a pair of "custom" shoes that I will never wear.

Their materials are top notch, and we already have plans to purchase more pairs. In addition, we were touched by Mr Mancini’s warmth and sincerity. We have an amazing experience at Mancini and ended up buying several pairs of shoes. The staff were all incredible. The design work was unreal. The artists are incredibly talented. These shoes are beautifully crafted. Noah was incredibly helpful and despite me being an absolute pain and wanting to redesign my shoes, he was nothing but patient and forgiving. I cannot recommend the store enough.

I walked by the store front and decided to go in as I loved the shoes on display. I was told that they custom make shoes to fit your feet. I went into the showroom and designed a pair of sneakers. I didn’t feel rushed and was able to see on a big screen exactly what my shoes would look like. I received my sneakers by DHL today and they are fabulous. I wore them tonight and they were very comfortable. I designed my sneakers to show all the places I visited while on my trip. Then I put my puppies on the inside. I love them and would definitely do it again! Thanks My Mancini Team for the best souvenir!

It has been an incredible experience to create a unique design to gift to a unique person.

Did a pair of slip on from this store. And it so painful when wore with the slip on behind so high making it damn painful when wear. When asked them about it, they replied saying that the design was finalised with me at the store. Trusted their professionalism and go with their design. Totally not worth it. Euro 450 can get you better shoes elsewhere. Confirm
