This was a fantastically organised tour that culminated in a swim in the earth lagoon hot springs. Marika was an excellent host and guide. We had no issues returning to the ship in time for departure. Well done

Our guide, Marka (apologies if I’ve misspelled the name), was truly impressive, a real wealth of knowledge and information. We visited some incredible sites, and the tour brought everything to life, from Iceland’s geology and history to its culture and traditions. I would highly recommend this trip and would happily do it all over again. The Earth Lagoon at the end was particularly special, do not miss it!

It was a great excursion with many interesting places to visit. However, it would have been helpful to be informed in advance about the large number of insects around the lake area, as they can be quite irritating. Instead of giving a warning beforehand, insect nets were offered for €8, which felt a bit disappointing considering most visitors will probably only use them once. The geothermal baths were definitely a highlight: beautiful views, not overcrowded, and we had enough time to relax and fully enjoy the lagoon. Our tour guide was a young lady from Poland who was very knowledgeable about Icelandic culture and shared a lot of interesting information. However, she spoke quite fast at times, which made it a little difficult to follow everything. Overall, despite these small points, we really enjoyed the excursion and were happy with the experience!

Tour guide was excellent. She was a young woman who grew up in the area and had wonderful things to share. Everyplace we stopped was excellent. My husband and I had been to a lagoon and had no interest in doing another one so we waited for a couple of hours while others did that. The waiting area was cold and uncomfortable. If you don’t want to do the lagoon, I would recommend not doing this tour. The rest of the tour was great, however and the people who did the springs really liked it.

If this is your first time, or more, visiting Akureyri, this is a good opportunity to see more of the surrounding area. Fox Adventures offers small group tours. Always great with less time getting off and on the van. The van was comfortable and has large windows for viewing. Our guide, a young woman (Marika), was very knowledgeable and helpful. With the many different stops, there was time for each person to have free time to explore. We were able to go to the earth lagoon at the end of the tour, which worked out very nicely. It was a long day, but didn’t feel like it was). We started around 9am, and returned to the ship around 5:30pm. Even though it was raining most of the day, we had a great time. If this tour is too long for you, check out the other tours with Fox Adventures, I think they offer similar tours with less hours.
