Bucket List Tours’ wonderful owner Alexander, saved the day for us when our sunset cruise of the Athens Rivera was cancelled due to weather. He suggested his Temple of Poseidon, private mythical sunset tour instead. Boy, we were not disappointed!! He drove us an hour outside of Athens (in his beautiful car) along the Aegean Sea to the 2500 year old Temple of Poseidon overlooking a picturesque bay to see a spectacular sunset shown from behind the ancient ruins!! Amazing! Then he took us to a fabulous Greek restaurant, owned by the same family for 3 generations where the food and local wine was outstanding!! Finally, after he brought us back to Athens he insisted that we had to see the Parthenon lit up at night!! Because he couldn’t let us leave his beautiful city without seeing it!! Truly spectacular!

The visit to Poseidon’s Temple at Cape Sounion was a dream come true, and I give this tour a glowing five stars! The coastal drive from Athens was mesmerizing, with the shimmering Aegean Sea on one side and charming villages dotting the route. As we approached the temple, its striking silhouette against the azure sky took my breath away. Perched dramatically on the cliffs, the Temple of Poseidon is steeped in history and mythology; the guide brought it to life with captivating stories about the ancient Greeks’ reverence for the sea god and the site’s legendary connection to Theseus and the Minotaur. The highlight was watching the sun set into the endless horizon, painting the sky in hues of gold, orange, and pink—the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever witnessed. The well-organized tour, expert narration, and sheer beauty of the location made this an unforgettable experience!
