ラジャラタへようこそ ! （キングス・カウンティまたはキングス・ランド） 島にある2つの最も古い僧侶の住居の1つであるヴェッサギリヤ森林修道院から1日を始めます。 ヴェッサギリヤでは、仏教、農業、美術、建築、貿易、国際関係、スペルバインディング・エンジニアリング・マーベルが育んだ古代シンハラ文明をゲストが深く掘り下げていきます。アヌラーダプラの黄金時代が、その始まりからどのようなものであったかを知ることができます。
スリランカのアヌラーダプラにあるティッサ・ウェワとイスルムニヤ岩寺院に挟まれたラン・マス・ウヤナ（王立金魚公園）の岩肌には、地元では「バワ・チャクラヤ」または「サクワラ・チャクラヤ」として知られる古代スリランカのユニークな工芸品が隠されている。
シュリー・マハー・ボーディ・ツリー（Sri Maha Bodhi Tree）または聖なる菩提樹（The Sacred Bodhi Tree、学名：Ficus Religiosa）は、アヌラーダプラの8つの聖地のうち最初のものとされている。 これはインドのボーダガヤにあるスリ・マハー菩提樹の右翼枝で、修行者のシッダールタが悟りを開いたと記録されており、紀元前3世紀にシンハラ王デーヴァナンピヤティッサの要請により、アショーカ天皇が愛娘の仏教尼テーリ・サンガミッタを通じて送ったものである。 ここからガウタマ仏との生きたつながりから、歴代の王、僧侶、尼僧、在家仏教徒の崇敬を受けるようになった。 特に、人類が植えた生きた木としては世界最古の記録であり、現在では樹齢2300年近くになるというのが定説となっている。
北または聖なる菩提樹の先に、デーヴァナンピヤティッサ王の孫であるガミニ・アバヤ大王の指導の下、紀元前2世紀に建造された古代マハー・ヴィハーラ僧院複合体の管理センターとして使われていた古代ブラーゼン宮殿の老朽化した建物と確認された花崗岩の巨大な柱の立像群を目撃することができる。 9階建ての建物で、1000の異なる部屋があった。 Brazen Palceという名称は、屋根が銅瓦で葺かれていたことに由来する。
ラトナマーリー（Ratnamali）またはマハトゥパ（Th Great Stupa）として知られるルワンヴェリセヤのストゥーパは、紀元前2世紀にグレートカインド・ガミニ・アバヤの指導の下で建設された。 このストゥーパの落成式を、アヌラーダプラでは他国からも招聘客が外交官として参加して行われた大祭として年代記は幻想的に描写している。 しかし、10世紀のACによるチョーラ侵攻で破壊され、12世紀のACにパラクラマバフ王によってストゥーパは元の栄光を取り戻した。 では、とにかく今日見られるのは、1940年にラトナマリ・ストゥーパ開発協会によって完成された、ヴェンによって最初に始められた最新の復元された形態である。 ナランヴィータ・スマナサラ・テーロは1873年に、かつての栄光を取り戻したいと考えていた。
低い地面に建てられたこの絵のように美しい一対の池は、間違いなく景観建築の絶妙な標本であり、もちろん、これらの壮大な人々の才能だけでなく、美意識を示す素晴らしい水理システムである。
これは本当に現代の蒸し風呂のような臭いが、これは単に温水で蒸し風呂を楽しむためではなく、紀元4世紀以降に行われたよく発達したシンハラ人の薬であった。 そこでは、それがどのように機能し、アハヤギリヤ大学の病僧がどのように皮膚病を治したかについて議論することができる。

これは地元では「Eth-Pokuna」または英語で「Elephant Pond」として一般に知られており、Refectoryの南西に位置するこの池は、おそらく3世紀に造られたアジア最大の人工池である。 これは現代のオリンピックプールの3倍もあるという。 ここでの奇跡は、その巨大な大きさだけでなく、地下の導管が現在も機能し、近くの貯水池から池に水を供給しており、南西の隅には、古代シンハラ人の優れた水理工学技術を描いた、近隣の他の比較的小さな池に水が分配されていたことを示唆するシスター水門が観察できる。
ムーンストーンは、古代の彫刻家のもう一つの最も美しく、息をのむような創造物です。 仏殿への階段の足元の扉の役目だが、彫刻家が遥かに優れた芸術作品へと昇華させている。

I had the great pleasure of having Lucky as my guide, or rather interpreter, in Anuradhapura. Right from the start, he was extremely | welcoming, and even though I booked my tour only the day before, he arranged both the pickup from my hotel and the most wonderful tour around various sights. Lucky's in-depth understanding and insight into Sri Lanka's history and culture made this experience truly special - Lucky is a very unique person who genuinely embraces the Buddhist philosophy of life, and it was deeply inspiring to talk to him. I had the absolute best day, which exceeded all my expectations. And if that wasn't enough, he later sent me a detailed description of our day and all the sites we visited. A day with Lucky is not just a guided tour; it's a window into Sri Lanka's rich history and a genuine cultural exchange.

Lucky took us through the most interesting monastries and ruïnes and told passionatly about budhism and it’s history. Lucky had been a guide since 12 years and knows a lot about Budhism. Overall is was a very fun experience and I learned a lot from Lucky!

We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour of the old city of Anuradhapura with Lucky, he is s great guide with very deep knowledge of the area and its rich history. I had an outstanding guided tour in Anuradhapura and can highly recommend it. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of the ancient city. His understanding of archaeology, architecture, and Buddhist philosophy was impressive, and he explained everything in a structured, engaging way. He didn’t just show us the sites, he made them come alive with context and insight. Thanks to him, the places we visited felt far more meaningful than just impressive ruins. Professional, intelligent, and deeply informed. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience with Lucky in Anuradhapura. Over the course of the 7-hour tour, he provided a very detailed and engaging introduction to the ancient monasteries and sacred sites, explaining not only the historical background but also the cultural and spiritual significance behind them. If you are looking for a guide who truly understands Anuradhapura’s heritage and can explain it with clarity and passion, I highly recommend him.

Lucky was an amazing guide. He has deep knowledge of Buddhism, history and archaeology and brought the stones and sights to life. His English is excellent and he tells lots of stories. The day started with an overview of the life of Buddha and his teachings- and, importantly, how they relate to Buddhism as practiced today. As we explored the amazing sights, Lucky would point out interesting details and relate them to the bigger picture that he was building. We also visited Mihinthale to finish the day which was a great add on. I highly recommend Lucky as a guide.
