Staying in Istanbul for 2 days whilst on a cruise so thought we’d book this having had good experiences in other cities around the world. Well what can I say a complete waste of 100 euros. Took the bus from cruise terminal up to blue mosque and Topkapi palace, would have been cheaper to have got a taxi or walked ! Audio didn’t work and then sat in gridlock for hours. Totally pointless in a congested city like Istanbul.

Not worth it
I would not recommend this tour due to the high volume of traffic. We took the 13:00 tour on a Thursday. The first hour was fine, the commentary matched the location. But once we returned from the Asian side, the tour failed. Not only did the commentary not match the location, but the driver made multiple diversions to avoid the traffic. After two hours, about 20 minutes late, we got off at Taksim Square, but underground not in the square itself. Those remaining on the bus never saw the square. Yes, the traffic in Istanbul is terrible, but not getting the full tour made it not worth our while.

Waste of money
Vastly overpriced. Bus turned up 2 hours late. Spent most of the time on a motorway. Audio did not work despite changing seats 3 times. Whatever you do don't sit downstairs as all you'll see is graffiti.
Get a taxi instead.

Gives a good tour of the...
Gives a good tour of the City. Being able to get off at spots of interest was nice. Close to the Tram so could get on the Tram as well for another experience which was good

Avoid avoid avoid
What a complete waste of money and time. Made a massive mistake and did not read trip advisor. Do not go, book or even look at it!
There is a sign up telling you about it and how to book online - but it’s a “third party”. Well when it is right beside your bus stop so how is a tourist meant to know this! It’s a different (higher price) online than at the stand (which does not open until just before the bus journey starts)
States it is around an hour but I wish!! The commentary does not match where you are. I spent more time trying to find what they were talking about. They then take you out of the city and get you stuck in traffic to see nothing!
Avoid at all costs and spend time walking or using public transport. Such a shame as we always do an open bus tour when we first visit a city. Being on this bus just made me want to book an early flight!

Not great
Trip Advisor sent me bar code but vendor only takes QR code. Too long between buses. Istanbul traffic results in poor experience

Disappointing, I do not recommend it.
Disappointing
We were quite disappointed by this experience. There are very few explanations during the trip, mainly about a few mosques and monuments. On the other hand, nothing or almost nothing about the neighborhoods passed through, their history and their interest, which is yet one of the main advantages of this type of tourist bus.
Another big problem: if you get off the bus at a stop, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find the other stops to get back on the bus. The addresses or directions for the different stops are nonexistent. Unless you take the bus back at the exact same place, you easily end up lost.
In the end, we paid for a service that we were not really able to use. Better signage for the stops and especially more explanations about Istanbul and its neighborhoods would really be necessary.

Disappointed with the Routes in Istanbul
Not enough stops on the Red Route in Istanbul.
Plus not enough connecting stops with the red and blue routes to far apart compared to other cities, like England France Spain Portugal USA ETC

Tourist trap
The price is very high, and a certain part of the tour is really not interesting to discover. There is a lot of traffic, and 2 hours and 15 minutes on the bus is very long for the red line. We bought a ticket for 2 days that cost us €152, and you do not get complimentary water bottles. Lol. The next morning, we took the blue line, and the bus roof was closed due to a so-called technical problem, and if you do not open the windows, it is a furnace. The blue line is not very interesting. I advise you to visit Istanbul using the metro and tram, which are much cheaper. In conclusion, we regret taking the hop-on hop-off bus.

Don't do that.
From the cruise port Istanbul for €150 bought 3 tickets once outside full bus ( that's possible ) but don't worry there was an empty one where they only sell tickets , the man said in 10 minutes a new bus arrives but after 45 minutes we just started walking. On the way to next stop there arrived a full bus and this continued until we arrived at the blue mosque 5 km walk, when we thought to get in there unfortunately bus was full and finally at 17.00 about in short don't every taxi driver laughs about it when you say you bought tickets for the hop On hop off bus .Walked back and complained to seller who said I don't care I'm just sitting here to sell.
Worthless service and €150 lighter
