This was our first time visiting Rome, and the tour gave us a general overview of the main attractions. The Colosseum area and central streets were the most memorable parts. The guide kept things moving efficiently, which helped us see more in less time. It’s more of a highlight experience than a deep dive into Rome’s culture, but it’s a good introduction.
Gabriella was fantastic to work with while planning our trip. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to understand our needs. She answered the multiple rounds of questions we had and was able to put together an itinerary specifically designed for what we want to see and within budget. We enjoyed working with her.
My partner and I booked this Rome shore excursion during our cruise, and it felt like a whirlwind introduction to one of the world’s most iconic cities. The Colosseum was the highlight for us, even if viewed mostly from the outside. Walking through central Rome and seeing famous squares was memorable and romantic in its own busy way. The schedule is tight, so it’s not a slow romantic stroll, but it still gave us meaningful shared moments in an unforgettable setting.
We hopped from the Colosseum to the Pantheon and managed to snap some great photos. We didn't have time for a sit-down lunch, but grabbing a quick panino on the go was part of the fun. Back at the ship right on time.
Our guide was great and managed the time perfectly. The city is packed with tourists, so everything is busy, but we managed to grab a quick slice of pizza and throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain. The van was comfortable and air-conditioned, which was amazing after walking around in the sun.
We were a group of friends on a cruise and chose this full-day Rome tour from Civitavecchia. The logistics were smooth, and everything ran on schedule. Rome is obviously overwhelming in a good way—so many landmarks packed into one city. We especially enjoyed the stops around the historic center, although we would have liked more free time to explore cafés and side streets. It’s definitely a fast-paced day, but for a cruise stop it gives a strong overview of the city.
There is A LOT of walking!!! When I signed up for this tour it appeared that we would be taken to all the places listed. We did go to all of them, but it was 100% walking. We had a great guide but I wish that it was made VERY CLEAR that this is a 100% walking tour. Anyone with any type of mobility issue should not purchase this tour.
Thank you for your feedback. Walking 52 miles from Civitavecchia to the center of Rome would take a good walker approximately 20 hours, and likely several days for someone with limited walking abilities, not to mention the return trip. The center of Rome is not accessible by tourist transport, which is why walking is required in pedestrian areas. This is exactly why the “Additional Info” section of the tour description clearly states that this tour is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for people with limited walking abilities such as yourself. When booking future activities through Viator, we strongly recommend basing your expectations on the tour description and listed restrictions rather than personal assumptions. Safe travels.
Travelling alone, I felt very comfortable throughout the entire tour. The guide made an effort to include everyone in conversations without being overwhelming. The transport was clean and punctual, and the stops were well chosen. I appreciated the mix of historical context and casual storytelling. It was an easy way to see a lot in one day without any stress about logistics.
Our tour guide was great but Rome was insanely crowded that day and we could not even think about entering even one building or point of interest. We walked and saw a lot but doing this in a much smaller group size (4 or 6) would have been better. The driver they hired to get us to and from Rome should be fired. She spoke loudly on her phone 100% of the time she as driving us, while eating and drinking. She had zero regard for the passengers safety. She wa awful.
Thank you for your kind words about our guide. Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world, welcoming around 40 million visitors per year. Please do not be concerned by Italian driving, which may be different from the usual U.S. standard. According to statistics, however, we have far fewer minor road accidents here in Italy. Our drivers are permitted to use their phones, as all of them are equipped with safety headsets in full accordance with traffic rules. Having a snack or drinking water is not restricted either. Alcohol and drugs, of course, are strictly prohibited, and luckily, we do not have any addicted drivers so far 😊 LOL Safe travels!
We joined this tour as a group of five friends and had a really good time. The guide, Elena, kept things relaxed and informative without being too formal. The schedule was well balanced, and we never felt rushed at any location. Transportation was comfortable, and the whole day ran smoothly from start to finish.
