The tour was advertised as being conducted in English, but the vast majority of the commentary was in German. As someone who does not speak German, this made it extremely difficult to follow the tour. When English was used, it was generally only for very brief instructions, leaving English-speaking guests with very little understanding of what was happening or what we were being shown. It honestly felt like two separate tours were being conducted on the same bus — one in German and one in English, except the English-speaking group received very little information or guidance. We were dropped off at the salt mine without clear instructions about what we were meant to do or when we needed to return. Later, when we arrived at the village and asked what there was to see or do, we were essentially told to work it out for ourselves. This is not what I expect when paying for a guided tour. The organisation was also very poor. Meeting times were changed repeatedly — 4:45, then 5:00, then 5:15, and eventually 5:10 — which was unnecessarily confusing. I was also uncomfortable with some of Philip’s behaviour and comments. I do not speak German, so I cannot say exactly what was being said in German, but it appeared that jokes were being made at the expense of people on the tour and people outside the group. I also noticed comments and gestures towards young women that I found inappropriate and unprofessional. Overall, this tour did not feel like the English-language tour we booked. The lack of English commentary, clear communication, organisation and guidance significantly affected the experience. Based on our experience, I would not book this tour again.

Extremely disappointing – avoid Phillip This was an extremely disappointing tour, particularly given the price and the way it was advertised. Our guide, Phillip, provided very limited information in English, despite this being advertised as an English-language tour. A significant portion of the tour was conducted in German, leaving English-speaking guests struggling to follow what was being said. What made the experience even worse was Phillip’s behaviour throughout the tour. While speaking German, he was making fun of other people on the tour and making comments at their expense, as well as making inappropriate comments about people outside the tour, including younger women. This was incredibly unprofessional, disrespectful and uncomfortable to witness. He also seemed far more interested in being buddy-buddy with the German-speaking guests than actually engaging with or providing information to the English-speaking members of the group. As a result, we felt completely overlooked for large portions of the tour. The combination of the lack of English commentary, the limited information provided and Phillip’s behaviour made this a very poor experience. If a tour is advertised as being in English, you should reasonably expect the guide to actually prioritise communicating in English and providing an informative experience for the entire group. I would strongly recommend avoiding Phillip if you have the option. There are plenty of better ways to spend your time and money in Salzburg.

I booked this one for my husband, but turns out I loved it too. It's a cross between a science tour and an amusement ride. Love it! One of our favorite things to do in Salzburg.

The bus ride passed through beautiful countryside. Our group was two: eagles nest and salt mines. We dropped off the eagles nest group then went to salt mines. Finished at Berchtesgaden for a very quick lunch!

A really nice trip. Fin bus with air conditioning. We had a really nice guide who told interesting things throughout the whole bus tour. The salt mine was interesting to see. A guided tour from start to finish. He was given an audio guide, it worked fine. One could have wished for an English-speaking guide in the salt mine if one wanted to optimize. Great with fast track tickets. Would recommend the trip to others.

My husband said I thoroughly enjoyed his. It's always interesting to learn the history of locations and especially anything that helps learn and understand culture. Salt was critical to the existence and development of Salzburg.

Easy to find the pick up point. Coach was very comfortable and on time. Jose the guide was truly awesome and so knowledgeable about the history of the area. He made the trip really personal and we all felt like friends on the coach. Really recommend this tour. Thank you for a very enjoyable day.

Great tour! It was a lot of fun and very interesting. Especially liked the slides. Also like some of the history of the Region that was discussed enroute.

Great saltmine tour with highlights including the slides and boat across the water. Some connection glitches & delays on one of our audiosets, but a lot of information was also communicated in writing and in film. The tour company voucher exchange kiosk building was surrounded by market vendor stalls and was hard to spot, but found it on the corner.

It was interesting, we are glad we did it. Gives you more history about Salzburg and area. Definitely do the slides!
