Jon, our tour operator was prompt and at the hotel at 5:59am! He was very friendly and got off the car and greeted us properly in the cold NZ weather. He was a very attentive person and remember every clients name! He drove perfectly and answered all our questions and shared knowledge willingly. I learnt something new from Jon- he showed us the white fern and gave us the history of it’s significance. Keep up the sterling service Jon, u made our tour memorable and enjoyable🙏🏽💕

We booked the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour with lunch, and we really enjoyed the whole experience. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore the famous Hobbiton Movie Set and learn more about how the movies were created. The tour starts at The Shire, which is the main starting point. Before your tour, you can take some time to browse the souvenirs or relax at the café. Once you have your ticket, you can wait comfortably until your tour time. When the tour begins, you’ll board the green Hobbiton transport vehicle, which takes approximately 5–7 minutes to reach the movie set. From there, you’ll enjoy a guided tour with a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. You have the opportunity to explore Hobbiton, see the famous Hobbit houses, and even go inside one of the Hobbit homes. After the tour, you can enjoy a complimentary drink at The Green Dragon Inn. We tried the apple cider, but if you don’t drink alcohol, I recommend trying the non-alcoholic ginger beer. We also chose the lunch package and enjoyed the buffet. The mint lamb casserole with green salad was one of our favourites. There was also a dessert section with cakes and apple crumble. A few suggestions could make the lunch experience even more magical: * The dining area could be designed with more Hobbiton-style decorations, perhaps inspired by the Hobbit houses. * Plates, napkins, and other tableware could feature the Hobbiton or Lord of the Rings branding. * Playing the Hobbiton/Lord of the Rings film soundtrack softly in the dining area would create an even more immersive atmosphere. * The dessert selection could be upgraded with a wider variety of more themed or premium desserts rather than mainly basic cakes and apple crumble. These small touches could make the lunch feel like the perfect finale to an already unforgettable tour. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and one we highly recommend! If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, or simply want to experience something unique in New Zealand, Hobbiton is definitely worth visiting.

Had a great time and tour was lots of fun, regarless whether you are a LOTR fan, or not. A must if you like to witness the wilderness and charm of New Zealand for the first time. To top things up, Jon was a great bloke and took us back and forth in no time!

Hobbiton was amazing! Not only the set, but also the nature surronding it! Our driver Raymond was the best and gave us precious advice to enjoy the visit in the best way possible! 100% worth it!

The tour itself was amazing. Raymond, the driver, was exceptional. He gave good insight about the tour and some behind the scenes information about the area. Most people on my tour had smiles on their faces at the end. Highly recommend.
