I had a fantastic guide, Emanuele, who I would rate 5 stars. However the tour operator and their staff leave much to be desired as I felt they had forgotten the booking and when I followed up with them 90 mins before the start of the tour they were very abrupt and rude. Be erthesless if the operator flies by the seat of their pants, Emanuele, was excellent. If the operator was organised and pleasant, I would have given 5 stars

Guide was amazing, tour company not so much
The good: Our tour guide, Daniele, was amazing and we really appreciated the time he spent with us explaining the history and historical context for the most important items on the tour.
The bad: The tour company had changed the description of this experience after we booked it and we were not aware until the end of the tour. Originally, it was written to include a secret passages tour, but now only includes discussion of the secret passages. When we brought this up to the tour company, they said they have no control over the secret passages tour even though prior reviewers indicated that they were able to go. This confused us, Daniele, and the viator rep that met us in the beginning. Evidence attached in case they try to dispute.

Access to these areas is exclusively controlled by Palazzo Vecchio management and is not available every day. Our experience includes a guided explanation of the Secret Passages and their history, but the admission ticket does not include physical access to them. We regret that this was not sufficiently clear when you booked and understand your disappointment. We are reviewing the description to ensure future guests fully understand what is included before booking.

Good service

A memorable florence experience
The atmosphere inside Palazzo Vecchio was incredible, especially when we moved into the quieter hidden areas. It was easy to imagine the people who once used these spaces. Our guide was friendly, informative, and clearly passionate about Florence's history.

Our guide made history interesting
We were lucky to have such an enthusiastic guide. Instead of giving us a list of dates and names, she explained the stories behind the building and the Medici family in a way that was easy to remember. The private setting also meant we could stop whenever we wanted to ask questions.

Unforgettable day
We wanted something special and private to celebrate our wedding anniversary in Florence, and this secret passages tour was ideal. It was relaxed, deeply fascinating, and away from the noise of large tour groups. Our guide even recommended a wonderful hidden trattoria nearby for lunch right after. Unforgettable!

Unlocking secret doors in a 700-year-old palace never gets old! The private access makes you feel like a privileged guest rather than just another tourist. Our local expert was super engaging and passionate. Definitely book this if you’re visiting Tuscany!

A very detailed and focused tour
I was skeptical about booking a private tour, but it was definitely the right call. Palazzo Vecchio is beautiful on the outside, but the real history is hidden behind the paneling and secret doors.
