We had a great day with our driver/guide, Julie. We were well aware that this was not a guided tour in the traditional format, and that suited what we wanted from the day. Julie was a great source of information in a cheerful, welcoming and super-friendly manner. The day was so full of great sights, history unfolding and great food and drink. Thanks Julie :)
Absolutely unacceptable experience, both with the tour operator and Viator. I booked and paid for this tour a month in advance as a birthday gift for my mom, and we planned our entire day around it. What makes this even worse is that no one contacted me to tell me the tour had been canceled. I had to call Viator myself the morning of the tour to find out what was going on. Had I not called, we would have been left waiting with no idea that the tour had been canceled. Canceling at the last minute is already extremely disappointing, but failing to even notify your customers is completely unacceptable. Viator was also disappointing for allowing a booking made and paid for a month in advance to get to this point without any proper communication or warning. This was supposed to be a special birthday experience for my mom, and instead we were left scrambling to make alternative plans at the very last minute. I would NOT recommend booking this tour, and this experience has also seriously affected my trust in Viator.
Thank you for your feedback. However, we would like to clarify an important point, as we believe our company is being held responsible for a situation that did not originate on our side. We are a partner of Viator, and in our system your booking appeared as “Cancelled by customer.” This is the reason why no driver was scheduled for your tour. This is the first time we have had a customer contact us on the day of departure expecting a tour to operate while their booking was showing as cancelled in our system. All customers whose bookings are shown as “Confirmed” receive their scheduled service and driver. Conversely, when a booking is shown as cancelled, the service is naturally not scheduled. Until your case, we had never received a complaint from a customer whose booking appeared as cancelled but who nevertheless expected a driver to arrive. We fully understand your disappointment, especially as this was intended as a birthday gift for your mother. However, we cannot accept responsibility for a booking that was displayed to us as cancelled. The issue appears to concern the booking status and communication through the Viator platform rather than a failure by our company to provide a confirmed service.
My wife and 2 boys 12/16, I traveled with guide Julie for the day. She was very flexible, made a couple pivots in our itinerary due to traffic and even allowed us to make a short stop on our return. Julie was knowledgeable, super patient and friendly during our entire trip. Thank you so much!

This tour was great! Loved Chateau Haut-Koenigsburg, such an incredible medieval castle. Riquewihr was absolutely stunning and probably my favorite stop. And Colmar was amazing. Smail was our driver and did an excellent job! Thank you!

From other reviews, we knew our driver wasn’t a ‘tour guide.’ Smail was on time, a great driver, polite, and told us a little extra during the drive when asked. For the most part, he played the English narration and let that do the information. When we saw how busy the castle was, he did give us prepaid tickets so we could skip the line and pay him back later. The castle was great, Riquewihr was lovely and laidback (go during the week for less people), and the four of us all found Colmar underwhelming and wish we’d had more time at either of the other locations. We also got to Colmar near the end of lunch and when restaurants are finishing lunch service, making it more difficult to find a good place to eat and people watch.

This man was just a driver. We booked this very experience experience thinking that we were booking a day of guidance in 3 Alsace region towns. First of all, he did not speak English. We then realized that he was not a tour guide but just a driver. At that moment, we had 2 options, leaving Alsace without seeing any town or just go for the drive. What a misleading advertisement this was. Shame on this company.
