Depending on the package chosen, the ticket also allows you to enjoy a boat ride on the Danube, another very pleasant way to discover Budapest and its monuments from the river. Only small downside: the circuit operates in only one direction. For example, if you are at stop 8 and wish to go directly to stop 1, you will unfortunately have to complete the entire circuit before arriving there. On Saturday we were stuffed into a crowded bus and could not see or hear anything.. On Sunday afternoon we were able to get a seat in the open top section and enjoyed the tour.

We did the hop-on hop-off tour in Budapest and had very mixed experiences. The positive first: The ride was great, the German audio recording was super clear and understandable, so you could follow all the explanations during the ride perfectly. However, we found the price-performance ratio and the ticket system to be absolutely incomprehensible and negative. You pay a hefty €39 for a so-called 24-hour ticket, even though the buses only run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the day. We absolutely do not understand the point of a 24-, 48-, or 72-hour option. In addition, there was technical chaos: When we took the bus to a specific place to eat at a nice restaurant there, my Apple Watch suddenly showed me in the Wallet that my online ticket was supposedly no longer valid. Afterwards, we therefore first had to go through the trouble of getting physical tickets and showing them again until it finally said in the Wallet that everything was fine. That cost unnecessary time and nerves. If there is already a technical problem here where the Apple Wallet is not being properly accepted by the drivers or the company, I do not understand at all why the option to load the ticket onto the Apple Watch is offered in the first place. That is exactly what the employee at stop 4 could have simply explained to us in a normal way – then we would have immediately understood why it is better to buy the tickets physically from him! Instead, it went quite differently: He just stubbornly wanted to force the physical tickets on us. Since we were only one click away from purchasing online, we preferred to do that online, especially since the price was identical. When we wanted to talk to him about it, he just stubbornly repeated the same thing. After my girlfriend said that everything was fine and we were booking online now, he became really rude. To our question about when the next bus is coming, he answered us in English that he would not tell us that anymore after such "shenanigans" !!!!! Such unprofessional, offended, and insolent behavior toward customers is absolutely unacceptable. In my opinion, this employee should be fired for such behavior. He ruined our whole day.

I do not know where to begin but I can not recommend this way of traveling in Budapest. Over loaded buses, no seats my friend had a accident when the door opened on him. We left after 2 stops and will not get back on this horror buses. Overpriced and horrible.

We were lucky, we got on at stop 2 at the Chain Bridge, we were able 2 get 2 seats upstairs but not together. After a few more stops with people getting on & off we were able to get seats together. The top deck is open-topped. Budapest is a beautiful and interesting city and you are able to see some stunning sites. A tip, if you can get on at stop 1 (if you can) in order to get decent seats. Second tip, take the bus without getting off for the full circuit which is about approx 2 hours this enables you to get your bearings around the city. Stay on the bus for your second complete tour & get on & off at places that interest you. Turn volume on complementory headphone to very loud in order to hear.

We purchased a two day ticket so today after we did a tour of St. Stephens Basilica we caught the bus out the front and did the round trip staying on the bus. We didn't get off at Heroes Square because we had visited here the previous day. Budapest is a beautiful city and there are lots of spectacular buildings to see.
