Leonardo was a wonderful guide with an interesting personal history. The Jewish history started with Portuguese arrivals & enjoyed hearing about the waves of immigration. We gained insight into Jewish life in Rio and were impressed by the facilities and beautiful Shuls. I was impressed by the monument to Yitzhak Rabin in such a beautiful setting and a very sensitively curated Holocaust centre, with very engaging pictorial displays. Also good to see was that Jewish symbols such as a public Menorah are openly present. (I had to travel for an hour to the pick-up point; a more convenient arrangement would have been better)

Our guide Ephraim was thoroughly knowledgeable about both historical and current Jewish affairs in Rio. He took us to places, including a fascinating little museum in a former law office, that we never would have found on our own. There was a great balance between leading us and letting us discover things on our own.
