Victor provided us with an amazing, memorable birding tour! He met us outside the cruise port where the birding began immediately before we even got to the car! On the car ride to the property where he conducted the tour, he pointed out a number of birds and shared information about the local ecosystems and wildlife. When we got to our destination, I was impressed with Victor’s ability to spot and identify a huge variety of birds, nearly all of which were new species to us, coming from Colorado. The tour concludes with a delicious lunch at the house on the property. On the way back to the cruise port, Victor even took the time to make a mango stop at a roadside fruit stand at my wife’s request. I cannot recommend this company highly enough! They provided a perfect experience!

We booked a 5-hour tour with Victor while our ship was in port in Costa Maya. My wife is an avid bird photographer, and we knew that Victor was the guy to go with. My job was to carry her equipment, make a list of the birds she saw/photographed, and stay out of the way! The property where Victor lives is an old limestone quarry, with a great mix of jungle, open spaces and ponds. In only about 3 hours, we saw 29 new bird species, from Anis to Yellowlegs. It was amazing and I was writing the list as fast as I could. Victor is a great bird tour guide; he knows the birds names in English, Spanish and Latin, and spotted birds hidden in trees and even over 200 yards away; what an eye for birds! The tour included an authentic local Mayan lunch which was delicious, and then we were off to another trail a few miles away with more new colorful birds. We highly recommend Victor for a wonderful local birding and nature tour.

Victor met us right outside of the cruise port in the pouring rain. He graciously accommodated my son’s request to visit the Chacchoben ruins, and the rain miraculously cleared! We birded in the beautiful jungle around the ruins, saw and heard many exciting local species, as well as spider monkeys and an agouti. Victor is very knowledgeable and knows how to spot, call to, and identify these amazing birds. He is also an excellent photographer and took pictures to document what we had seen. I love that we will be able to look at these pictures and remember our special birding trip. We followed that with a snack of delicious fresh pineapple and mango and a visit to a pepper farm for a hot sauce tasting. (I think that the tour typically includes lunch, but perhaps there wasn’t time for that because we drove out to the ruins.) We took a walk around the farm and he found us a coveted toucan! On the way back to the port, we did some roadside birding, and Victor was very persistent (and patient with me!) to make sure we were able to see the Tiger Heron we requested. All in all, it was a wonderful day and made our visit to the cruise port much more special than a typical cruise excursion.

I spent >4 hours with Victor birding. I stopped in Mahahual via cruise ship and was able to meet Victor within 15 minutes walking distance of the ship. I was solo, but we also met with an expat American friend of his who joined us. We spent about an hour in Mahahual and 3 hours north in the jungle. There aren't many easily accessible trails in the jungle, so an experienced guide is a near must. Victor has explored much of the area and he's developed a map with many proprietary points of interest - providing a large array of potential birding experiences depending on what you're looking for. Victor is very passionate about wildlife and the region in general (including the politics), which was also great. Moreover, he has a lot of experience tracking mammals (jaguars, pumas, tapirs - we saw tracks of all 3). I would do this again if I'm back in the area.

I booked a tour to go birding for my birthday, and it was one of the best birthday gifts I could have given myself! Victor is a perfect guide. He knows a lot of cultural history of the area, which I was really glad for. He is also a scientist and conservationist and is doing some amazing conservation projects in the Yucatan to protect both animal and plant species there. I can't wait to go back and go on another tour with him. We saw over 40 species of birds! Victor could not have provided a better experience- he took me to a great place for lunch, we bough coconut water from a vendor, it was an amazing birthday.

My dad and I had a fantastic day birding with Victor. Saw over 40 species, got fresh pineapple, a wonderful chicken molé lunch, and a tequila tasting before we were dropped off! Victor’s enthusiasm for birding and his knowledge of the local birds made for an unforgettable experience! I only had my iPhone but Victor was taking pictures on his camera that he emailed to us afterwards.

We toured with Victor on November 25th and added 12 life birds to our list! His partnership with local farmers to create bird habitats made the experience feel both authentic and impactful. Victor’s photography skills were a bonus—he shared beautiful shots of the birds we saw, giving us lasting memories. Victor took us on an afternoon bird watching tour from Costa Maya to a local farm rich in birdlife. Our cruise ship did not arrive until midday so Victor was very flexible in regard to timing. We birded around the port town and had a few stops going to and returning from the farm. 45 species in total. A hearty lunch was provided along with refreshing drinks. A great guy, friendly and knowledgeable. We recommend Victor for your birdwatching and other eco-tours.

Birding with Victor was an unforgettable experience! I’d been concerned about finding an interesting and engaging excursion in Costa Maya, but I’d without hesitation I’d book again with Victor. Upfront logistics were straightforward, and we were already identifying new lifers within 5 minutes. During our drive out to the farm (took approximately 45 minutes and we did a bit of birding on the way) that Victor has partnered with for birding and other activities, Victor took the time to explain a lot about the local ecology and life in the region. After a few hours of birding, the owner of the farm treated us to an absolutely delicious homemade fresh meal and hibiscus water. We did buy some hot sauces from the farm following an awesome tasting of all of the options. For anyone concerned, Victor is an incredibly kind and knowledgeable person. I wouldn’t hesitate booking again with Victor on any tour he might offer.
