The show was beautiful! Dinner time was a great opportunity to take photos of the lit up Prambanan. Our guide Gilang was amazing! He is very knowledgeable about the show as well as about traveling in Indonesia in general. We got some super helpful recommendations and tips from him. It was a pleasure even just chatting with him!

Beautiful show! Exceptional setting with the view of the Prambanan site lit in the background. To do! Reserve places in advance on the site.
A not to be missed performance, showing the essence of the Ramayana epic, Indonesian style. The costumes are quite stunning. It is a two hour+ performance with a 10 minute break. As someone familiar with the Ramayana, the portion describing the 'kingdom of Ravana" seemed to be extended but the crowd loved it. A live orchestra accompanies the dancers. Advance on-line booking on their website, perhaps two weeks ahead, is recommended. Otherwise please book your tickets through a tour company to be assured. Other than than the VIP and one level below seats, you will be sitting on concrete steps for 2-3 hours. Get an early lunch or bring some food with you. If you see this at the outdoor amphitheatre, the backdrop is the Prambanan temples - and that is simply surreal!

I am grateful to the event organizer for organizing this well-prepared amazing event. Furthermore, I went to this event with my friends and they invited me. Still, at the beginning, my excitement wasn't as tremendously high as before I had already participated in, as a participant. But despite that, the performance I've seen has shown the beauty of traditional dance in Indonesian culture.

Combining a traditional dance performance with a delicious dinner, it’s a great evening out, especially if you're curious about local mythology.
