Jessica added even more Sicilian sunshine to our excursion! She personalized the hike to our needs and preferences, picked us up at our AirBnB in Siracusa, and shared her life experiences of being a Sicilian through and through – while she took the effort to get to know us and our culture better, too. So we did not only learn about Cavagrande del Cassibile which she guided us through with care and expertise, explaining the geography and natural history of Sicily, but also about the local culture. The place is truly magnificent, we even had a chance to swim in the river! Her company made our trip even better. After a timely completion of the hike, she even surprised us with local treats after learning that we like tasting trips! So this was easily our best hike – seeing, learning, and experiencing even more than we expected, also making a friend! So it was a 100/100, we highly recommend Jessica for your hike anywhere in Sicily!

A swimming spot with magnificent landscapes but not recommended with young children; the descent and ascent on foot are very hard and long for young children. The swimming was wonderful but very hard to access

My boyfriend and I went on a guided hike to Cavagrande del Cassibile and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily! Our guide Giuseppe was excellent, super friendly, well-informed, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. He shared a lot of interesting facts and made the day feel relaxed and fun. If you're in the area, this trip is definitely worth it, especially with a guide like Giuseppe!

Giuseppe is an amazing guide! We highly recommend him!! Our tour was such a great combination of hiking and learning about local history and the natural flora and fauna. The swimming was so refreshing!! And no part was crowded. Such a great experience!!

You should definITALY do a beautiful Cavagrande hike together with Giuseppe. He shares knowledge of both nature and culture, which will give a deeper Sicilian perspective. From plants, animals and rockets to Greeks, Normans and Byzantines. On top of that he can share the better spots to visit and the flavours your next calzone should be dressed with. Perfect activity to start your Sicilian roadtrip with. Giuseppe is a master.

Giuseppe is the best guide in Syracuse! I spent a magnificent day exploring Cavagrande with him. The day was perfectly planned. He picked me up in Syracuse and drove me to the park. At first sight, the view was stunning. We started our descent down a lesser-known path into the ravine. It was serene – we didn’t see any other hikers along the way. The hike offered breathtaking views at every turn. We passed through a lush forest, and finally reached crystalline pools and a small waterfall. The water was cool and refreshing and it was amazing to swim in the different pools and under the small waterfall for a back massage. We hiked back a different way, also peaceful. This is not the main path that most people take which is very steep and dangerous. There’s no way I could have found these trails on my own. An expert naturalist guide, Giuseppe had tremendous knowledge to offer on the local flora and fauna. It’s clear that he knows Sicily inside and out. Giuseppe is a true expert on Sicily’s hidden gems, and he organizes unique experiences that are not to be missed!

Guiseppe is an incredibly knowledgeable and personable guide. We started by stopping to obtain lunch for the hike, which was memorable simply for the experience itself. On our trip through Cavagrande, he pointed out many of the plants that are unique to the region along with their particular uses. He kept a good pace and provided many opportunities to stop and enjoy the experience. I would definitely recommend him and the entire experience.

We booked the half day hiking tour to Cavagrande del Cassibile Nature Reserve on quite short notice, which was not a problem at all: Gisuppe did the tour even for just the two of us! We took a less known (and less crowded) hiking route in the Natural Reserve down broad and some narrow paths to a beautiful river pool where we had the option of swimming. Giuseppe was an amazing guide, you can hear his passion for the area and its flora and fauna in everything that you learn from him that day. We had the most enjoyable and memorable trip and we will definitely do some other Sicily Unearthed tour with Giuseppe when we get back to this part of Sicily.

The Cavagrande reserve is really beautiful. Giuseppe is an excellent guide with a lot of knowledge about the area and its biodiversity. We really appreciated that he gave us plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular views and to swim in the river pools. We did a less known hiking route which was largely in the shade (very welcome at 40+ °C).
