今日、この駅は毎日 350,000 人以上の乗客を扱っています。中央駅は、1873 年に英国の建築家ジョージ ハーディングによってゴシック リバイバル様式で建設されました。これはロバート・チザム (Robert Chisholm) によって変更され、主塔に中央の時計塔とトラヴァンコール キャップが追加されました。
次に、インドのサザン鉄道の本社に向かいます。インド サラセン様式で建てられたこの建物は、N. グレイソンによって設計され、サミナダ ピライによって建設されました。 1921 年に完成しました。サザン鉄道本社は、鉄筋コンクリートで建設されたインドで最も初期の建物の 1 つでした。
以前はキューピッドの弓と呼ばれていた戦勝記念館は、第一次世界大戦 (1914 ～ 1918 年) における連合軍の勝利を記念して建設された記念碑です。後に、第二次世界大戦 (1939 ～ 1945 年) の戦勝記念碑となり、戦争で命を落としたマドラス大統領を記念して建てられました。
インド最古の英国国教会である聖マリア教会を訪れます。また、植民地時代の遺物が豊富な趣のある博物館も訪れます。チェンナイの英国建築ウォークでは、東インド会社によって 1644 年に建てられた最初の英国の要塞であるフォート セント ジョージに向かいます。博物館の前には高さ 14.5 フィートのコーンウォリス卿の像があり、これは傑作です。美術館は金曜日が休館日です。フォート セント ジョージは現在、タミルナドゥ州立法議会の本部となっています。
狭い橋は拡張され、コンクリート構造に変換され、1943 年 7 月に一般公開されました。この橋は、チェンナイの街を表すためにメディアでよく使用されます。ネイピア橋は 1869 年にクーバム川に架けられ、フォート セント ジョージのイギリス総督フランシス ネイピアにちなんで名付けられました。マリーナとフォート セント ジョージをつないでいます。
