Our guide (sorry I can’t remember her name, but photo shows her off!) was outstanding! She really gave us a true look into the way of life for ancient Pompei with so much to say about their daily lives before the eruption. The wine pairing at the foot of Mt Vesuvius was perfect - you could taste the volcanic ash from the grapes grown on its hills. The transport was seamless from Pompei to the winery as well. The only critique is the meetup point didn’t have any specifics about identification for our group when we booked but we were able to ask around a bit amongst the tour groups at the entrance & found where we needed to be no problem.
Daniel was great. 10/10. Has family ties to Pompeii, and is passionate about the ruins and the area. Knows it like the back of his hand. Lives 1.5 miles away from the site. Very protective and caring for his tourists. Best guide you can get. Keeps it light and funny but also very informational and takes it seriously.
We booked this 2hr tour as we felt 2hrs was adequate considering it was 36 degrees. I am so glad we made that choice. This was a very informative and efficient way to view Pompeii. Our tour guide, Sofia, was lovely. She brought the group together very quickly, was very relaxed, knowledgeable and navigated us brilliantly through the ruins. She had many who were going wine tasting after, as part of the tour and she was very helpful to ensure that, after the 2hrs, we remained inside the site so we could do some exploring ourselves. I had been well warned not to try and view Pompeii without a historical talk. This tour was great value and so easy to book via Viator. They even called us 10 mins before tour began to ensure we could find our group ( our train was slightly late)
Tour guide was personable and knowledgeable and without her (Lalla was her name), I would have had no idea what we were looking at. However with only 2 hours to explore the ruins before the next part of our tour, I didn’t get to see everything I wanted to. Could have easily spent another 2 hours at this site! Overall great experience, I would suggest doing a tour and then maybe going off on your own to see more of the ruins after.
Lalla was a perfect guide for Pompeii. She was so friendly and you could tell how passionate she is about the history. Going to Pompeii without a guide would be a mistake because the explanations make what you’re seeing all the much better.
Claudia was a terrific guide! So friendly, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. I loved her sense of humor, too. This was a fascinating tour with the perfect guide. They even accommodated us and switched times due to a late train. Highly recommend!!
Very professional, great value for money.
Our guide Vivian demonstrated her knowledge of Pompei in a way that kept us all interested. The tour was short, but it didn't feel rushed. Overall amazing experience and I highly recommend it
Really easy booking through Viator. Their app is great all the tours clear and helpful to decide what to choose. Really happy with the tour we choose. A wonderful taste of Pompei, covering a number of highlights. Very good and knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend this.
Simply fascinating. Walking through Pompeii felt like stepping directly into a moment frozen in time. The preserved streets, homes, and frescoes offer an incredibly vivid glimpse into daily Roman life before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. What stood out most was the level of detail—from the ruts in the stone roads to the haunting plaster casts of victims—which made the history feel real rather than distant. The scale of the site is impressive, and it is easy to spend hours exploring everything from grand villas to small shops. Overall, the tour was both fascinating and sobering, blending historical insight with a powerful reminder of nature’s force.
