May wife and I did a fantastic 2-day tour with Choose Balkans to Lake Koman and the very remote village Merturi I Gurit. At lake Koman we left the boat at the landing point for Merturi I Gurit and walked straight up the mountain for a couple of hours with astonishing views over the mountains and the lake. Arriving at the village we experienced a quiet and idyllic place with green meadows and gracing cows. The village has a number of stone houses (kullas) of which many now are abandoned, but they are still very picturesk, And still some very welcoming families live here. From here a 4WD was organised to drive us along a long bumpy dust-road to our overnight in Iballe, at a surprisingly luxurious guesthouse. After a walk in the surroundings the next morning, the route back to Tirana was set. Everything was organised perfectly and our guide Erwin was a very nice guy and very competent.

This two day trip was well worth the journey to get there. It's incredible to be able to visit such remote locations only accessible by boat. Surrounded by an abundance of breathtaking scenery and waking up with nothing but the sounds of nature was such a privilege to experience. 100% worth it. What an incredible adventure, disconnected to connect with nature.

I took a day trip of the Shala River and Komani Lake with Choose Balkans and had a wonderful time. I communicated with the team for several weeks before my trip and they were super quick to answer my questions by WhatsApp. The day trip was led by an awesome guide Valentin, who was energetic, knowledgeable and a skilled guide. While the drive to this location is super long (go for the overnight trip!), Valentin kept it engaging and fun. My favorite part of this trip was the small boat ride up the river. I felt like I was in the set of Jurassic Park or boating in Thailand. Such a beautiful spot!! The cold drinks provided by the agency and help with a dinner reservation were added touches that enhanced this great day trip.
