Mycenae and Epidaurus (25–30 minutes), Ancient Corinth and the canal (an hour), the Nemea vineyards (40 minutes), Hydra island by boat, and — for a long day — Monemvasia or Mystras in the south. Most run as half-day or full-day guided tours.
How long is the Corinth Canal and can you see it from Nafplio?
The canal is 6.4 km long, 23 metres wide and was cut between 1881 and 1893. It sits about an hour north of Nafplio and is usually a stop on full-day tours that also take in Ancient Corinth.
Do you need a car for day trips from Nafplio?
Not if you book tours — shared half-day trips to Mycenae and Epidaurus run daily from about €80. Without either a car or a tour, the ancient sites are difficult to reach by bus.
