Itinerary
Our Twilight Tour is a 4 to 5 mile journey and usually takes about 3 hours. After a brief orientation with your guide, the group will paddle along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, North America's Largest High Alpine Lake! Depending on weather conditions and the group ability, our guides will safely escort the group to West Thumb Geyser Basin. After touring the Geyser Basin, where dozens of geothermal features are visible above and below the water's surface, we will return along the same route, stopping for refreshment and a chance to explore along the shore of the lake, arriving back at our Launch Point in Grant Marina before the sun sets. Return time may vary depending on group size, weather, fitness, and of course the time the sunsets.
Takes place in Yellowstone Park
The West Thumb Geyser Basin is a short drive from the Iconic Old Faithful Inn and Geyser. The 1/2 mile elevated boardwalk twists and turns through the Geyser Basin providing views of some of the most beautiful Hot Springs, pools, and geysers in the park.
Bridge Bay is a short drive from the West Thumb Geyser Basin along the shores of Yellowstone Lake.
Hayden Valley is just 27 Miles from the West Thumb Geyser Basin. A great point of interest to visit before or after your Kayak experience on Yellowstone Lake.
Lewis Lake is just 10 minutes South of the West Thumb Geyser Basin and Grant Village. A wonderful place to dip your toes in the Lake or hike along the North shore towards Shoshone Lake.
John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway is a scenic road and protected area that connects Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park in the U.S. state of Wyoming. Just South of Yellowstone Lake.

What a fun experience! It was definitely worth the money. I am so glad that we did this tour in Yellowstone. What a great way to see the lake. Our guide, Tiffany, was very knowledgeable and friendly and gave us great park information during the tour. Was not too strenuous and there were lots of breaks for looking at the thermal features. It is a definite must tour in Yellowstone!
Such a fun excursion and a great way to enjoy Yellowstone Lake. Our guide, Tiffany Wood, was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about the Park. We even got to see thermal features along the shoreline. Great views and fun exercise.
The event was wonderful. Tiffany was exceptional! Very knowledgeable about Yellowstone and kayaking. She was punctual. She gave us a great presentation prior to heading out. The trip was so serene. We would definitely recommend this excursion.
Prismatic Tours was so great and all the tour guides were amazing! We had Maddie and she was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. One of our daughters had a nose bleed during the kayak tour and Maddie was totally prepared and helped us with the bleed. She's also trained in first aid, which is a bonus for me! She was engaging with all of our kids, especially our 7 yo who was apprehensive at first, but Maddie won her over quickly. We were given a 3 person kayak with our little one, and our two teens had a double kayak. The tour itself was beautiful and saw thermal geography that you couldn't see on foot. Also lots of bird sightings and the clarity of the water was surreal. Highly recommend this adventure!
My wife and I love to kayak and this was a chance to take our 5yr old daughter with us for her first experience. She loved every minute of it and talked Maddie (one of our guides ear off). She sang and just put her hands in the water asking to go faster and waving to everyone on shore she saw.
We had a fantastic time on our Yellowstone Lake kayaking tour. Our guide Dylan was really knowledgeable and friendly. The journey was a 6-mile kayak around the edge of the West Thumb of the lake and good for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. Would definitely recommend! The only thing I would say is that if you’re booking through Viator you can’t specify a single or double kayak, so you may want to reach out directly to Prismatic Tours after booking to request, if you have a preference.
Tiffany was very knowledgeable and personable. Made the trip fun with mix of fun facts and casual conversation. We saw a good mixture of formations, and some that you can only see while in the water, so I would definitely recommend this experience! There were two groups out on the water at this time, and our group went about a little further to see more things, so I would choose them over other options.
Amazing tour with our guide Michael. He was very knowledgeable and personable. We had a great time kayaking. Thanks
We did the morning tour -- Knowledgable friendly guide (Michael), what a great experience. Totally worth it!
The evening kayak with Tiffany was wonderful. She is very relaxed and knowledgeable about the park. She answered all of our questions. Great personality too! The lake conditions couldn’t have been better.
