Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the most precious and fascinating Polish monuments. The first tourist trail in Wieliczka was established as early as the beginning of the 19th century. A couple of centuries later the salt mine was designated as one of the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites (1978). The underground path leads through numerous drifts, galleries, and chambers, where traces of mining activity have been preserved, as well as examples of art, and theme compositions relating to the history of the mine and its legends. Wieliczka is the world's largest mining heritage museum... Moreover, the microclimate of the mine has a beneficial impact on visitors who suffer from asthma and allergies. The tour starts with a descent of 64 meters by stairs. You are then led through a number of chambers and shown underground lakes, shrines, and salt monuments. The trip finishes at the level of 135 meters below the surface and the return to the surface is by lift.
St. Kinga’s Chapel is a breathtaking underground sanctuary carved entirely from salt, located deep within the historic Wieliczka Salt Mine. Dedicated to Saint Kinga, this extraordinary space features intricate salt sculptures, crystal chandeliers, and detailed reliefs depicting biblical scenes. Both a place of worship and a masterpiece of craftsmanship, the chapel is considered one of the most remarkable highlights of the mine and a symbol of centuries-old mining heritage.
After you visit the Salt Mine and a day full of excitement, your driver will take you back to the center of Kraków (of course, if you’ve chosen the transport option ).

- TOUR DURATION AND SCHEDULE: Typical tour duration in the Mine is around 2-3 hours. Check the specific start time of your tour and plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.

- HEALTH AND SAFETY: Be aware that the tour involves walking and descending a significant number of stairs (around 800 steps there is no lift that will took you below!). The tour is not recommended for people with claustrophobia or severe respiratory or heart conditions.
- DRESS CODE: Wear comfortable walking shoes as the tour involves a lot of walking. Dress in layers; the temperature inside the mine is around 14-16°C (57-61°F) year-round.
- PHOTOGRAPHY: Check the policy on photography; usually, non-flash photography is allowed, but a fee might be required for camera use.
- FACILITIES: Restrooms are available before the tour begins and at certain points within the mine. There are often opportunities to purchase souvenirs and refreshments.
- RESTRICTIONS: Large bags and backpacks are typically not allowed inside the mine; lockers are available for storage.
- ADDITIONAL TIPS: Bring a bottle of water, especially if visiting during warmer months. Listen to the guide’s instructions and stay with the group at all times.

We waited for an hour at the meetup point for us to be picked up, we were told to be there at 9:35 for departure at 9:45, we finally left around 10:45 closer to 11 as we were made to pay for the tickets on the spot. Very poor communication prior to the pick-up, we had to call and message ourselves to get some answers, and a badly chosen meetup location as it was full of other tour buses. We had no idea which bus was supposed to be ours as we weren't told the license plate or anything at all. The salt mine itself was awesome but again, the organisation of the tour was really chaotic. The tour guides were all shouting at each other, there were constant mix-ups about the number of tourists in our group and everyone seemed to be stressed out. We also missed out on multiple areas and sections of the mine without any explanation. Our tour guide was lovely though, kept apologising for the logistical issues they were having. After the tour, same issue with our tour driver, no clearly communicated meeting place, had to keep messaging her on Whatsapp. All in all, inconsistent experience, more so frustrating than anything else.

I got a text saying to meet outside of a hotel kiss n ride at 08:00. I waited there from 07:50-08:10. I then walked to the bus station platform G5 as instructed at the guide. I waited there from 8:35-8:55. I looked forward to this my whole trip and it’s extremely rude and unprofessional.
Pick up was at hotel and she was on time. Tour guide/ bus driver was a nice young lady but not what I would have described as a tour guide. No need to book a lunch. Waste of time and money. It's also not clear from the description on the tour that the tickets into the salt mines aren't included. So be very aware of this Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed the salt mines, they are impressive. Well worth the trip.

Wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience better. You need to pace yourself because you’ll travel down three levels in about to two hours. I don’t recommend this activity if you’re claustrophobic. You’ll travel through some tight spaces. But all in all a wonderful experience.

Overpriced Shuttle & Misleading Info – Do Not Book! ⭐☆☆☆☆Do not book this tour. They charged us full price for two seniors, completely ignoring the cheaper senior rate. To make matters worse, our tour guide actively misled us. They claimed that buying tickets directly at the site would cost 30% more. This is completely false. We checked the official ticket office at the salt mine: the prices were exactly the same, and senior discounts were readily available. This company does not provide an actual tour. They are just an overpriced shuttle service that drops you off at the salt cave. You can easily take an Uber from Krakow for about 50 PLN and save hundreds of local currency. Save your money, buy your own tickets, and avoid this rip-off.

Well worth your time to visit but would do it as a stand alone day not coupled with Auschwitz Guide was very good

Really good experience in the Salt mine but not this operator ! Was NOT clear that we had to pay for entry tickets separately. Was NOT told we would exit in a different place and would have to find our own way back to the coach.
