Visit Secret Caves, Hidden Beaches and Snorkel in Alvor, Portugal

We, family with two teenage daughters, look back on a fantastic experience. Led by Pedro, who talks about the environment and nature with great love and passion, we made a very varied and sometimes challenging trip. Climbing, crawling, snorkeling we went along the coast and through the cave openings. In between time to relax in the most beautiful places and look for sea creatures (lots of crabs). Snorkeling we saw several fish sometimes in large schools at the same time. At the end end end on the beach with some tasty snacks. Our daughters thought this was the best experience of two weeks Algarve. Thanks again Pedro, also for the nice post sent pictures!

We were a family of 7 (2 children 12 and 8 and granny 70) There was also another family of 3 who joined the trip, making 9 adults and 3 children plus the 2 guides. Having studiously read lots of the reviews and Zip and Trips web site were it says 'we snorkel from the beach' we did not expect a long steep climb and decent to reach the said 'beach' especially since the initial meeting point was actually at a beach and that was the beach we swam back to. The climb and decent was steep and tricky - very fit for goats, not for anyone afraid of heights or too aged. The picture looking through the hole in the rock back to a beach shows how high we climbed and what goes up goes down - see other picture. We had a choice to take the same route back or swim around coast. No one in their right mind would choose to do that route again. I wish I had taken my own snorkel and shoes as the snorkel leaked no matter how tight it was, so I spent 3 hours with my nose and sinuses full of Atlantic water and the shoe floated off at one point when we had to remove flippers to transverse underwater rocks. initially the thick wet suit provided protection from the temperature but probably due to my age and lack of skin fat I spent nearly all the trip uncontrollably shaking from the cold (mentioned in case you are also a person who feels the cold as obviously once you are committed you need to continue to the end) The guides were very pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable and the photographs provided were great and much appreciated. . Our family enjoyed the trip. I was glad I did it. I wish I had spent more time right at the start gaining confidence in the flotation abilities of a wetsuit to be able not to hold a flotation board as that has led to a shoulder issue - but hey 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing. I wish Zip and Trip all the best.

We are experienced sea swimmers (myself and partner) and whilst in Portugal we wanted to go snorkelling. We found Zip and Trip on the internet and looked at the reviews which are all positive - so booked. We met Pedro and his helper and the rest of the people booked on the experience in the car park near to the beach. We had our introductions and got ready to go in the water with the equipment supplied. We headed to the beach and got in the water to acclimatise to the water. We headed off for a short walk to a cove not too far away. We had lots of chats with Pedro got into the bay and started our experience. It was great and Pedro and his helper were very supportive and would recommend this adventure. We finished off back on the beach with some snacks which were very appreciated. If we go back to that area in Portugal we would definitely book onto this again :)

I and my two kids (8 and 10) did this as a way to learn more and experience a unique adventure and they LOVED it. We were joined by 2 others (group of 5 in total). My two are sufficient swimmers, but the wetsuits (provided) meant a huge amount of buoyancy anyway, so they simply bobbed about in a very relaxed manner. Pedro and Katrina were extremely friendly, made the trip fun and educational. In and out of the water, in and our of caves, crawling through small cracks, discovering hidden beaches and learning a lot about how things have formed over millions of years. Spotted octopus, sea cucumber, sardines, breams and spider crabs, and finished it off with a snack on the beach at the end. Absolutely brilliant way to spend a morning. Thank you!

An unforgettable snorkeling trip! Our guide was fantastic – knowledgeable and engaging, sharing fascinating facts that made the experience even more enriching. Highly recommended for families! The kids – they were absolutely thrilled!

We had a wonderful day with Pedro and his crew, The trip started with putting on the wetsuits and a little hike over the rocks to a bay. On the way there Pedro enlightened us a lot about the formation of the rock formation. After getting into the water, we moved snorkeling to various secluded caves. There you could discover fossils, but also living flora and fauna. The picnic on the beach with local snacks concluded after about 4h. Thanks for the great tour!
