You will meet your guide in front of the Ex Cinema Teatro Italia in Cannaregio opened in 1916 as a grand theater and cinema, with striking Art Nouveau and Neo-Gothic details. Today, it’s been transformed into a supermarket while preserving frescoed ceilings and ornate décor—making it one of Venice’s most surprising hidden gems.
Venice Jewish Ghetto is a historic and culturally rich area in Cannaregio, established in 1516 as the world’s first ghetto. Today, it remains a vibrant neighborhood with centuries-old synagogues, Jewish museums, traditional bakeries, and artisan shops. An unforgettable afternoon with Marina — the highlight of our Venice trip! 🇮🇹 We’ve only been in Venice a couple of days, but our Secret Food Tour with Marina has already been one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Marina was simply outstanding. She wasn’t just incredibly knowledgeable about Venetian food and history — she brought everything to life with her enthusiasm, warmth and fantastic sense of humour. At one point she shared a story from a recent tour that had us absolutely crying with laughter! It was one of those moments that made the whole experience feel completely natural and personal rather than like we were simply being taken from one tourist stop to another. Marina has a real gift for storytelling. And the food? Absolutely fantastic. We tasted things we would never have thought to order ourselves, discovered places we would almost certainly have walked straight past, and learned the stories behind what we were eating. What really made the experience special, though, was Marina herself. She was engaging, funny, attentive and genuinely passionate about Venice. Nothing felt rushed, and it felt much more like being shown around by a friend who knows all the best places. If you're considering a Secret Food Tour in Venice, book it — and hope you get Marina! The guide was wonderful! She was knowledgeable and passionate about the city, food and culture. Unfortunately, it was only four stars due to the experience with the group. It had many picky eaters and folks that couldn’t walk far. I commend the guide for working so well with everyone. She did the best she could but it did take away from the experience for those that were really into the food drink and learning as much as possible.

The food tour was amazing. Gives you so much insight into the better lest touristy places to sample food and drink. The highlight for us was going to Ormesini (highly recommend going there if you want something to eat away from the hustle and bustle) for the fried sandwich , prosecco and risotto.and finishing up and Rosa Salva for some sweet treats. Carlotta was the perfect guide, through the tour. Friendly, smiley, knowledgeable and just happy to chat about anything as you stroll along the canals. She takes the stress away of trying to narrow the Hugh amount of choices of where to go for something to eat and drink. If you want to experience the Benicia food scene and how the locals eat and go about their day, then I highly recommend booking.
