Itinerary
Start your tour in front of the iconic Red Fort, where your friendly and knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the history of Shahjahanabad and Chandni Chowk. We will be viewing the Red Fort from the outside, its majestic architecture and historical significance will set the stage for our journey through Old Delhi.
Explore Chandni Chowk, a historic square designed by Princess Jahanara Begum in 1650 CE. Originally a half-moon-shaped area with a reflective water pool, it once shimmered under moonlight from a Yamuna river channel. Today, immerse yourself in its vibrant chaos. Wander through alleys lined with centuries-old mansions and intricately carved doors. Discover ancient Jain and Sikh temples, as well as the oldest Baptist church and Hindu temple. Explore Bhagirath Palace Market and Camera Market, where the aroma of spices mingles with the bustling local chatter. Indulge in tangy chaat, dahi bhalla, and gol gappe, savoring the blend of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors amid the lively ambiance of Chandni Chowk.
As part of our tour, we'll visit the magnificent Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, one of the most prominent Sikh temples in Delhi. Built in 1783, it stands as a testament to Sikh bravery and faith. Here, you'll witness the serene and spiritual atmosphere that offers a unique glimpse into Sikh culture and traditions. At the Sikh temple, you'll have the opportunity to visit the largest community kitchen, known as the "Langar." Langar is a free community kitchen where volunteers prepare and serve meals to thousands of people every day, regardless of their background or status. This tradition of selfless service and equality is a cornerstone of Sikhism. During our visit, you'll not only see the kitchen in action but also have the chance to participate in this noble practice. Helping in the preparation or serving of food is a humbling experience that emphasizes the importance of community and service.
Naughara, derived from "nine homes" (nau ghar) or possibly "nine pots" (nau ghara) of water for travelers, is a captivating enclave in Shahjahanabad. Accessible through the lively Kinaari Bazaar, this gated neighborhood offers a peaceful contrast. At the lane's end awaits the 19th-century Jain Swetamber Mandir, its white marble entrance adorned with vibrant glasswork and intricate paintings.
Khari Baoli, Asia's largest spice market, on our immersive tour. Wander through bustling lanes filled with vibrant colors and intoxicating scents. Discover an array of spices, dried fruits, herbs, and teas that have been traded here for centuries. Our expert guides will introduce you to the rich history and cultural significance of this market, offering insights into the spice trade and its impact on Indian cuisine. Experience firsthand the art of spice blending, sample exotic spices, and learn how they enhance the flavors of traditional dishes. You'll also have the chance to interact with local vendors, witnessing their passion and expertise. Capture stunning photographs of the market's vibrant stalls and bustling activity. This tour not only tantalizes your senses but also provides a deep understanding of the culinary heritage of India. Undoubtedly the best food tour in Delhi! Raj is an expert in the cuisines & history of Old Delhi. It started with a visit to the Jain temple near Red Fort, the peas samosa and ended with a mango kulfi & the fire paan in CP. He made sure the stores we went to used ghee and were hygienic. It was a true peek into the old Delhi life
Man... raj is a amazingly kind human being. His tour speaks for itself. Check out the website, everything will be expanding your expectations way more. Forget all that food, that western food markets are selling as "authentic north indian bites" apart from that, the temples, we visited, were crazy. (In a good way) i got witness to hear sikh fighting music, and that is grooving more then fela kuti. Great sweets, thalis, warm gulab Jamun!!! Mango lassi, kulfi, pani puri, the best garlic naan i ever ate in my life and so much more. Then all kinds of funky public and private transport that we used.. the GTA style tuktuk ride through the narrow roads was the best..apart from that, raj will never hesitate to help you, if you got questions for your trip, and what to get where.. i mean he drove me to the kashmir gate bus station, just to negotiate a better price for my ticket to manali.. 600r for a luxury liner.(!!!!) and also, if you think, the price is a lot.. no. Not for what you get . Youre my hero, stay sage!
It was really an amazing tour!
Amazing trip! Raj guided us expertly through the chaos and beauty of Old Delhi. We visited temples, rooftops, the spice market and had many local street food delicacies on our way. Raj is fun, sensitive and very knowledgeable. A great tour guide and Raj made our Delhi stay unforgettable.
Who said Delhi is only about chole bhature? The trail unveil Delhi walked us through had stories, history, people and taste. We started at the Jain temple, tracing pieces of the past, and ended with kulfi, becoming kids all over again. But this experience was never just about food. It spoke about the people who have lived here for generations, preserving their ancestry through flavours, rituals and everyday life. Every pause carried stories beyond what was served on the plate. Raj curated this entire trail so intricately making us experience Chandni Chowk not through monuments alone, but through people and their perceptions. Once upon a time, the canal flowing through the centre reflected the moonlight so beautifully that the entire chowk seemed to glow under the moon. And somehow, after hearing that from Raj the streets felt different. I truly enjoyed every bit of this journey, and for a moment, it felt like I belonged to the stories of Chandni Chowk rather than just walking through them.
Rajy gave us an amazing tour of Delhi. We left as friends not customers! The tour was great, we tried a variety of food of course. All extremely tasty and clean. He expertly guided us through all the back lanes to places we never would have been. What was so great about the Unveil Delhi tour was that Raj was really accommodating and flexible. The tour is informal and relaxing. He can tweak the tour to what you are most interested in. He was also extremely knowledgeable about details inside the Jain and Sikh Temples and kitchens we visited, which were a great insight into local life. He offers more specific cultural tour aswell. He is extremely honest and was helping customers from other tours too. He turned down a job from a travel agent on the phone during our tour, who wanted him to take another tourist somewhere dishonest. There are plenty of other tour guides around without such a good reputation. Choose carefully. He is a great guy and helped us with onward India admin and questions over WhatsApp throughout the rest of our trip aswell. We left having had a great experience 10/10
We have had such a great time exploring Chandni Chowk with Raj. He is very knowladgable and showed us many beautiful spots. And the food... oh my! Everything was super tasty, and we have not had any stommach issues afterwards. I can only recommend! I will be back myself.
Booked through moustache hostel with king Raj! Very dynamic tour operator offering bespoke food tour through old Delhi! Loved the fabulous food and the great company. Would 10000% recommend
We spent a whole day with Raj experiencing Delhi. He showed us sights and temples, always making sure to check what we were most interested in and what we would like to see. The highlight was his secret special place. The food spots he took us to were carefully selected, and he also took into account my special request for vegan street food. Raj is incredibly thoughtful and attentive. If you need a restroom during the tour, he always makes sure to take you to clean ones. The tour was authentic and full of remarkable moments. It was an unforgettable experience, and I would do it again anytime!
Raj was an excellent guide and the tour was well worth it! It was a wonderful experience, and being with a local who knows everything makes all the difference. Besides that, Raj explains everything, shows us all the most important things in Old Delhi, I felt completely safe and enjoyed every minute of the tour. I loved it and highly recommend it.
