Really worth the money. Great way to see the island.

This was an excellent opportunity to see the island and gain some insights about cultural and historical intricacies. We only stopped at about a quarter of the stops and it took us 5 hours one way; 8 hours total. So plan on a full day's event. Also note that much of the roads are incredible views but treacherous driving.

Operator response

Erin, thank you for taking my Road to Hana GPS audio tour in Maui. I’m so glad you found it worth the money and that the tour helped you experience the island with cultural and historical insights along the way. I also appreciate your helpful tips for future travelers: plan a full day, choose stops carefully, and be prepared for beautiful yet challenging roads. I'd buy again -- BUT...

This was FANTASTIC! As an incentive travel planner for Fortune companies, I would easily buy this many times over for self-guided tours in rental vehicles or other. THE BAD: The track kept skipping on each narration the first few seconds...not sure if this was a signal or coding issue. It would repeat the first sentence then keep going...got annoying after about 60 tracks. Hope they fix this! THE GOOD: It was auto-triggered by the geofence to begin the narration. They were short, yet had enough detail to satisfy or possibly search for more. The fact that the Narrator told you what to expect and kept in touch even when there may have been a turnoff or small stop, it was nice. You can mute or replay it as many times as you like, unlike tour guide with corny jokes. The app was very helpful, although not the perfect user-friendly version it could be knowing what "password" to input. Be sure to download this and "activate" the code/password BEFORE you get in to Paia! After that, good luck. We had about a 99% success rate using it and could easy troubleshoot what may have happened if we didn't...simply due to the geofence as you drive through the areas or double back for some that were dead ends (parks, sights, etc) and had to go back the original direction. WHAT TO DO: THE FULL LOOP! The Narrator suggested NOT to do so, BUT, if you are a SEASONED driver and are NOT scared of potential bumps, limited sight, tight turns, drop-offs...or grew up in Italy in the mountains...you'll be FINE! The "reverse" is NOT for young or scared drivers who can't deal with steep drop-offs, potholes, extremely narrow roads and more...if you're one to be in the left lane going under the MPH when it's raining...don't do the reverse...but that's ONLY for about 5-10 minutes AT MOST after you get out of Hana. Once you get past that stretch...WHICH IS TOTALLY WORTH IT; it's ALL PAVED ROADS back around! I'd say 2-5 miles of more loose gravel/rough road, then it's smooth sailing...but you WILL need to drive 5mph in some areas due to the very tight, blind corners and be prepared to BACK UP in these areas if you come across oncoming traffic...but it's only a couple times for maybe 50-100yds. SLOW and STEADY in these couple areas and that's it! If you are nervous, anxious, or one of those drivers who get ANY feeling of hesitance in roads NOT on common streets, just let someone else drive it. You will need some gut instinct and common sense to do the reverse...but the views, sight seeing opportunities and more are AMAZING and ISOLATED! I recommend NOT to drive this after dark...no lights, lots of limited sight areas (many dozens), give yourself about an hour for this reverse to do the full loop after you leave Hana. You'll see some civilization later and it's only ONE road in/out! You will literally get dropped back where you started close to Paia as there are no public roads down to Kihei area...so just plan accordingly. We left at 10am, stopped at most stops (except the Lava Tube and State Park with Admission), but stopped at the small side quests and got photos and stayed 5-10m and enjoyed the constant rainy on/off weather. We hiked a few of the trails and did the waterfalls, "Oprah's beach"...in all, we spent about 7-8 hours with the full loop quest, but could have easily been 8-10 hours had we started at 8am. So if you're one of those explorers, give yourself 12 hours for the full loop and time to stop at just about everything...if you're just wanting to say you did it, go before 10am so you can be back around ALSO: Inexperienced and rude drivers don't understand how to take turns across bridges...you'll see why when you go...so be assertive on your turn to cross or you'll get taken advantage of and have some upset drivers behind you. If you have cars behind you, pull OFF and let them pass. Don't let your sightseeing stop commerce for the locals! I would buy narrations from this Seller again!

Operator response

I’m unable to find your booking on my end, but I’m glad the GPS-triggered narration, short stories, replay option, and route guidance made the drive helpful and enjoyable. Loved the audio when it...

Loved the audio when it worked. It kept cutting out even though it was downloaded as instructed. We had several parts where it was just silent. Other than that it was great to get the history of the Road to Hana

Ship cruiser

Great narration and to the point. Great views and mouth dropping scenes! I would like to see on the phone app a time to destination. It was hard to tell how far we were since we were on a cruise ship we had to turn back without knowing how far or how long it would take us to get back

Operator response

Israel, I’m really glad to hear that you enjoyed my stories and those incredible views along the Road to Hana! An excellent point about timing to/from destinations… I’ll aim to get that added into future revisions. If you’re still on board the cruise and visiting more islands, check out my All Hawaiian Islands Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour Bundle. Happy travels!

Great Info for the Road

Great timely info provided as we drove the road. We could not get the map to appear on CarPlay but audio was perfect!

Operator response

Jennifer, I’m glad to hear my Road to Hana tour provided timely information as you drove. I also appreciate you mentioning CarPlay. At the moment, full in-app map display and navigation aren’t supported on Apple CarPlay, which is why the map didn’t appear there. The good news is that Apple CarPlay integration (including navigation features) will be live soon, and my team is actively working on it. I’m happy the audio worked perfectly for you in the meantime. Excellent Storytelling! Beautiful Drive!

Just keep driving, he doesn't talk the whole time just at certain points during your drive. The stories are great, we learned a lot and he does tell you the best places to stop along the way! At the end he says to turn back the way you came but the road does continue through. It is a bit sketchy but we made it and the views were breathtaking!

Operator response

Katelyn, I’m glad you enjoyed the storytelling and that my Road to Hana drive felt both beautiful and informative. You’re absolutely right—the narration plays at key points so you can focus on the drive and scenery in between, while still catching the best stories and must-stop spots along the way. I appreciate you sharing your experience of continuing past the turnaround, and I’m happy to hear the views made it worth it for you. Worth every penny!

Great audio that worked perfectly! Learned a lot and saw amazing places! My only suggestion for app development is to have the actual MAP show up on car display (with CarPlay) so the driver can see it.

Operator response

I’m so glad you enjoyed my Road to Hana audio tour and had a great time exploring the island. I appreciate your suggestion to display the map on CarPlay, and I’m happy to share that we’re working on this feature to improve your experience. The goal is to make the tour even more convenient and intuitive, so I hope to have it available soon. Thank you again for your recommendation, and I’m glad you found the tour both educational and enjoyable.
