The driver came to pick me up as planned and the transport went very well, both on the way there and on the way back. BUT, no guide on site. A guide got on the bus, explained the time and meeting point to us, and sold his services as an extra. So I had to pay for a guide in addition, which cost me 20 euros. The entrance to the site costs only 6 euros and the price of the service is 80 euros. I did not have any museum tour afterward, even though that is normally included.
The tour is ridiculous, I was reselled to a Colectivo, with some random people. And a guide come to sell guide services to other people for 300 pesos (only I was prepaid for 1500 pesos). The guide is a nice and professional lady, I am fine with her. But the seller on tripadvisor is not organizing anything. Just sell you to a car pool to the site.
If you are near this part of Mexico, don't miss this! Palenque is the most important site in Chiapas, and one of the most important in the Mayan empire. Bring an extra MX$300 for the jungle adventure; it's well worth it as you'll get to climb up temples recently discovered with LIDAR, and learn about some of the things Mayans used to survive in the deeps of the jungle.
Was not happy with the experience. In my trip the guide fee was included but it seemed some other people didn’t purchase a trip with the guide When we arrived to park entrance, the guide started to negotiate with everybody to pay a little extra, so everyone would be with the guide . It created a total disaster with this hassle for extra money Not to mention raised a question for people who prepaid for the guide’s fee a full amount , why the rest of the group should be included for the fraction of the price .
Our tour was good, they picked us up at our hotel right on schedule. The Palenque ruins are Crazy Fantastic, we loved it! The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that we had paid ahead of time to have an English-speaking tour guide, we ended up having several Spanish speakers join our group at the last minute, and our guide ended up speaking Spanish probably 90% of the time. I did feel like I missed a lot of information.
Hello good morning. It's good that you liked the tour, we are going to take his comment to check that detail with the guide. Greetings.
We love ruins and these did not disappoint! They are a beautiful example of Mayan Ruins, in the jungle! The ONLY reason I didn’t give it 5stars was because our guide was supposed to be English speaking, but because there were late addition Spanish speakers with us, she spoke 90% in Spanish.
