Pick up at 8 am from your hotel and set out this morning in a private tour to the countryside which drive about 45-minutes to the fishermen’s village of Kompong Phluk whose name means 'harbor of the tusks' and Cambodia great lake.
Enjoy Tonle Sap Lake, is a lake with no ends in front of you, and birds flying slowly overhead and surrounding with the interesting village. During the dry season (February to Jul), the village can be reached by mini bus or motorbike, as the – bumpy - road that is normally flooded dries up. In the rainy season (August to Jan), a short boat ride from the quay, through the wetland area will take you to Kompong Phluk. It is not a floating village but a village on high stilts as well as some floating houses and in spite of fishing is often the privilege of the Vietnamese minority but inhabitants of Kompong Phluk are almost exclusively of Cambodian origin. The villagers frequently move from house to another house during the rainy season, they live in houses built on stilts and move to small huts near the waterfront during the dry season to do fishing.
Arrive at the quay, board a local boat for a 1.5-hour ride on the Tonle Sap Lake as well as village where you will see nature in a way you’ve only seen in picture books, and the tour of Kampong Phluk is worth the extra effort to get there, then we will visit the village, the pagoda on the only butte (the only building which is not on stilts) and see the activities of the villagers who your expert guide will teach you about their culture, the life style, and the ecosystem of this fascinating place. Optional (August to Jan): you can pay an extra to take a small canoes paddle by villagers; will take you deep into the dense flooded forest. The trees of this forest are perfectly adapted to their unusual existence as they are completely submerged a part of the year. Return to Siem Reap and drop off at your hotel or requested drop off point within Siem Reap city center.

We really enjoyed this trip. It was nice to get away from the temples for a day and see a completely different part of Cambodia and how people actually live around Tonlé Sap. Sath was a great guide. Very friendly, relaxed and full of interesting stories about Cambodia and everyday life in the area. We could ask him anything and it felt more like spending the day with someone local than being on a typical organized tour. The boat ride through the flooded forest was really cool and visiting the local school was probably my favorite part. We even got to meet some of the kids during their English class, which was a really nice moment. Also a big thanks to our driver Mr. Phallit. Super friendly guy, safe driver and everything went smoothly from start to finish. We had a really good day and would definitely recommend this trip if you’re spending a few days in Siem Reap. We had an absolutely wonderful experience on our Tonlé Sap Lake and Kampong Phluk Village tour. It was one of the highlights of our time in Cambodia. Our guide, Sath, was exceptional. He shared fascinating stories about Cambodia, Siem Reap, and the daily lives of the people living around Tonlé Sap, giving us a much deeper understanding of the country's history, culture, and traditions. His knowledge and passion made every part of the trip engaging and meaningful. The tour itself was fantastic. We enjoyed visiting a market, a peaceful boat ride through the forest, spotted an adorable monkey, visited a local school supported by an NGO, and even had the opportunity to meet students during their English class. These experiences made the trip feel authentic and truly unforgettable. A special thank you also goes to our driver, Mr. Phallit. He was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the day. The drive was smooth, comfortable, and relaxing, allowing us to enjoy every moment without any worries. We learned so much and highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Siem Reap. This is a great experience to learn and understand about rural life. Our guide Nak was exceptional in his knowledge and attentiveness. We went on the trip with our 17 year old who recognised immediately from the Grand Tour ‘Seaman’ series and was instantly engaged. We would highly recommend

Nak and his driver were wonderful hosts for the entire 1/2 day. We were overwhelmed by the kindness and willingness to share his culture and pride of his country and fellow people of Cambodia with us. We loved the floating city and the market tour and the boat trip onto the lake. The entire experience was exceptional and would highly recommend ask for Nak and his driver specifically.
Had a fantastic half day tour with our local tour guide Sath and our driver Mr Phalit. Visited a number of local sites and markets and a very enjoy boat ride to a floating restaurant. Enjoyed a local beer and refreshment, including visiting a local family and school. Great day enjoying Siem Reap as a local.
Great tour and even better tour guide and driver. Was able to experience children taking English class. Very cute the kids practicing their skills with us.
Our guide Bunrong and driver were very kind and picked us up punctually from the hotel. The tour itself was informative and it was interesting to see how the locals lived We were not so keen on seeing the crocodiles and other animals being kept in captivity and this made us feel a bit uncomfortable. We would also suggest that in dry season the advertised length of the tour was adjusted. We were only out for 3 hours in total
