Tokyo Shinjuku Chopstick Making Workshop

Honestly I went in thinking this would just be a quick stop while I was out in Shinjuku, and it ended up being one of my favorite hour of the whole trip. The studio is tucked away from all the noise outside, really calm and welcoming, and the host walked me through everything at my own pace. You get to pick your wood (loved that there were so many options, not just the basic one), shape it with a hand plane, sand it down, then oil it until it's smooth and shiny. It's a proper hands on class too, not one of those where someone else does the hard part for you. By the end you're holding a pair of chopsticks you made with your own hands. No experience needed at all, total beginners are fine, and honestly it beats any souvenir you'd buy in a shop because you can say you made it yourself. Do it early in your trip so you get more use out of them while you're there!

Amazing experience! Additional costs for higher quality wood, and engraving - optional which was so perfect. We went for a no extra cost wood and 2 x engraving which made our experience so worth while. We spent 45 minutes which was great. The staff were super helpful and guided us through the process while also letting us relax and do it ourselves. The view is also amazing!

One of the best expirences I did in japan! The workers are so kind and helpful, they helped me understand and even tho we were students they showed me the instructions every time I needed help 😄 I believe that the instructions were clear and that the steps was easy to understand and follow. So Thankful and happy! The work took me around 80 minutes. And it was so organized and not overly crowded. The calm atmosphere made it even more enjoyable. I think it was a perfect trip for me as a student because it was new, fun, and easy. Thank you Tokyo Shinjuku Chopstick Making Workshop!! 🌟

Before starting the workshop, you simply choose the type of wood you would like to use. If you choose a more fancy or exotic wood, there is an additional fee depending on the material. The staff then guide you through the process of hashi-tsukuri (making your own chopsticks), with explanations in either English or Japanese. The whole experience is relaxed and enjoyable, and you get to take home a pair of chopsticks that you made yourself. It’s a nice little activity to try if you’re looking for something different to do in Kabukicho, especially if you want to spend an hour away from the usual sighseeing spots. しながら、楽しくてリーズナブルな1時間を過ごしたいなら、歌舞伎町の箸作りワークショップがおすすめです。 ワークショップを始める前に、まず自分が使いたい木材の種類を選びます。高級な木材や珍しい木材を選ぶ場合は、素材に応じて追加料金がかかります。 その後、スタッフの方が箸作り（箸づくり）の工程を丁寧に案内してくれます。説明は英語または日本語で受けることができるので、日本語があまり話せなくても安心です。 全体的にとてもリラックスした雰囲気で、自分で作った箸を持ち帰ることができます。歌舞伎町で普段の観光とは少し違った体験をしてみたい方や、1時間ほどゆっくり過ごしたい方にぴったりのアクティビティだと思います
