Description

What makes this experience truly unique is the opportunity to create a functional Japanese knife through a hands-on process guided by a local craftsman in historic Asakusa. Rather than simply observing, guests actively take part in shaping and refining their own blade using whetstones, gaining firsthand insight into the precision, patience, and craftsmanship that define Japanese knife-making. The small-group setting allows for personal instruction in a calm, welcoming workshop, making the experience accessible to beginners while remaining deeply authentic. Guests leave not only with a handcrafted knife, but with a genuine connection to one of Japan’s most respected artisan traditions.

There are some places you visit, and there are others you experience — this beautiful Japanese knife-making studio is truly the latter. As a studio just starting its journey, what touched me most was the genuine passion, craftsmanship, and dedication behind every knife. You can feel that this is not simply about making a tool; it is about preserving a tradition, respecting the material, and creating something that can become part of someone’s everyday life for many years. There is something incredibly special about seeing the process up close and realizing how much patience, skill, and heart goes into each blade. Every detail feels intentional, and every knife carries a sense of character that you simply cannot find in mass-produced products. I especially admire the spirit of a young studio like this. Starting something from the ground up takes courage, and it is clear that the people behind it care deeply about doing things properly rather than taking shortcuts. That authenticity is what makes the experience so memorable. I sincerely hope more people discover this place and support their journey. If you appreciate Japanese craftsmanship, handmade knives, and the beauty of things made slowly and with purpose, I cannot recommend this studio enough. Wishing the team many successful years ahead. I have a feeling this is the beginning of something truly special, and I feel fortunate to have witnessed it in its early days.

Great experience

Had the session with Alberto. Very lucky to be the only one at the time slot, so it’s like a private class. He was very detailed in explaining the steps, and patiently corrected me throughout.

Knife making

It was a very fun experience to do and I've learned a lot. The sharpening of the blade does leave your hands a little sore but it is totally worth it. Although they do charge extra for the handle and engraving, you get a priceless knife in return
