Itinerary

Admission included10 min

We begin at the beating heart of Strasbourg, a grand square that has witnessed revolutions, markets and celebrations for over 600 years. Your guide — look for the red or blue umbrella — will introduce the city and set the scene for the journey ahead.

Admission included20 min

We admire the breathtaking Gothic facade of one of the tallest cathedrals in the world, built over 300 years from pink Vosges sandstone. We discover the stories behind its legendary astronomical clock, its rose window, and the gargoyles that have watched over the city since the Middle Ages.

Admission included5 min

We pass by the former residence of the powerful Rohan cardinals, a masterpiece of French classical architecture. Today it houses three world-class museums. We uncover the remarkable political and religious figures who shaped this city's destiny from these very walls.

Admission included5 min

We stop at this elegant square to discover the legacy of Johannes Gutenberg, who invented the printing press right here in Strasbourg. A story that changed the world — and very few travelers know it happened here.

Admission included20 min

We explore the most picturesque neighbourhood in Strasbourg: a 16th-century labyrinth of timber-framed houses, canals and cobblestone lanes. Once home to tanners, millers and fishermen, we reveal the real — and surprising — history behind this iconic postcard image.

Admission included10 min

We conclude the tour at Strasbourg's medieval defensive towers and the magnificent Vauban Dam, offering one of the finest panoramic views in all of Alsace. Your guide wraps up the story of the city here and this is where tips are warmly welcomed!

Admission included5 min

We step inside one of the finest Romanesque-Gothic churches in Alsace, home to the monumental Silbermann organ — one of the most celebrated in Europe — and the remarkable mausoleum of Marshal de Saxe. A hidden gem that most visitors walk straight past.

Gidda was a wonderful guide in one of the most beautiful cities in the world

It was almost 40 degrees in Strasbourg when we began our tour, meeting our guide Gidda near the Kleber statue. Wife and I expected at least 10 or 12 others, but we were the only two booked for the tour. Given the heat and the fact there were only two of us, I expected about 90 minutes but Gidda walked us around for over 2 hours. For walking tours, the guides can make or break them and we got very lucky to have Gidda. He was friendly, energetic, funny and bursting with info and anecdotes about Strasbourg. I could tell he really loves the place, and was patient with my endless questions. He knew a lot about the history of the region as well as each of the buildings and monuments he pointed out. I won’t get into specifics regarding what was covered in the tour—you can see that in the published description. But it was a perfect introduction to Strasbourg and I strongly recommend it.

Great understanding of how history has shaped Strasbourg

Learning the history of Strasbourg gives you a greater understanding of the sights. Erick was a wonderful guide. We had an early tour and ended up being the only participants so it was very easy to ask questions about the city. Thoroughly recommend

The wonderful tour guide Gidda

My train was late so I missed the original time. My nice tour guide allowed me to rearrange to a later time. That one was cancelled so he arranged for me to go with Gidda solo! I had a one on one tour with Gidda and he was so informative, so cordial, and so wonderfully sweet. I had a wonderful time and I am now filled with the love and historical information related to Strasbourg!
