Itinerary
The small town of Orta San Giulio is a one of the top destinations for tourists visiting our region. A favourite place for romantic souls, the village is a maze of picturesque streets and little squares with craft boutiques, antique shops and lively cafés. At the center of the town you will find Piazza Motta, pulsating heart of the life of the village, from which the connections for the Island of San Giulio begin; it overlooks the Broletto or Palace of the Community (on the facade you can admire the city crest), in which in the Middle Ages the power was exercised. In front of the Broletto begins an uphill road called 'Motta' from which you reach the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta (1485).
The pearl of Orta is the island of San Giulio: the little Island of San Giulio is dominated by its Romanesque basilica. From the church you can walk along the narrow street that goes round the whole of the island: the “way of silence and meditation”. We will visit San Giulio Island and the beautiful Church with the medieval pulpit.
We will walk in this magic place.

Very knowledgeable guide. His presentation was pleasant and rich.
Grazie mille
Giulia very kind and helpful. Interesting visit, without stress. Lovely place!
Very nice and typical village, with beautiful views of the lake, many places for lunch and even some hotels , but also very touristy
We had a great day with Julia. She was on time to our meeting location and gave us some good tips on restaurants to eat at and do outside of our tour.
Thanks!
Guilia was very receptive to questions and extremely knowledgeable. She was also very flexible and figured out what we had seen and learned and was able to reshape her tour so that what we learned was new to us. She was sensitive to our kids' needs as well. We would highly and unequivocally recommend her as a tour guide!
Thanks!
The village, lake and island were fantastic. Car in the parking garage, walking along the path where the cars reached the village, we could easily go down. The squares, the shops in the old buildings were nice. On the water there are plenty of terraces and restaurants for a stop with an amazing view of the island. A monastery is located here. Don't expect too many terraces, but the basilica is beautiful. The regular ferries will take you there quickly or take an expensive taxi boat with a group.
Giulia was very knowledgeable of the history and share a few stories regarding the saints and the families that lived during 15th & 16th centuries. She also recommended places to visit outside of Orta San Giulio that we were interested in exploring.
What about orta san giulio. A country among the most beautiful in Italy. You can visit its alleys, stop to eat or quench your thirst take a boat ride to the island san giulio which is right in front, climb and visit the sacred mountain with its churches and views then descend to Villa crespi take the train and return to the parking
Giulia was excellent guide. Good English explanations. Knows shortcuts and boats. Orta and island pleasant but crowded on Sunday.
Grazie per la vostra bella recensione. Giulia
