A funny, informative, and entertaining tour, well done by Saul with special act at the end of the tour! Also lots to see in the rooms.
Informative and quirky collection of items related to the history of Dublin. Pauline gave us a highly entertaining overview of each room and gave us plenty of time to look at things in more detail. We especially loved Tara’s palace.
Wonderful Guide called Lara. 5 * performance! Great way to find out all about Dublin's colourful past. 😁
Great tour with guide Saul and CIE Tours!
Fantastic! Mark the tour guide was both funny and knowledgable. Saul who ushered us in was also fantastic and we could already tell we were in for a treat the moment he welcomed us at the door.
The tour was very fun and fast paced. Informative and entertaining. Well done! Lara was our guide and she was lovely.
I attended as a 70 year old born and bred in Dublin with 2 grandchildren 12/13. I had googled so had a fair idea of what it entailed. But what I was not expecting was the "shillelagh waving, ah begorrah mentality and talk of leprechauns" not too mention the cringe worthy jokes about some of our esteemed Poets/Political figures and indeed about Dublin itself. Surely we are past the Darby O'Gill phase. Ok its a 30 minute overview but lets take our City and its people and History seriously and not be presenting Dublin and its people as some kind of gombeen men. I didnt buy tickets for a poor comedy show. As an Irish person I found the whole experience cringe worthy, and at €18 not great value for 30ish minutes. The best part was when we walked though ourselves and chatted about different objects on display. the most facinating for the children were the dial up phones. the 5 minute video at the start was almost inaudible and poorly thought out. not for me as a Dubliner.
The guides were dressed in period clothes and set to dramatize history. They were well educated in social activism. During this 30 minute tour I found our guide LARA VERY LOUD and even in your face with enthusiasm, but in an uncomfortable way. Perhaps that’s the point since the history contains many horrible atrocities. I kinda felt as if I was attending a riot. Nevertheless, I needed to tune her out sorry. Some may like this approach but I was negatively affected; headache and overwhelm. Surroundings are stuffy, hot and there were too many people admitted per tour. Media info /items were great, as all of the items have been donated from locals. Regardless, a little too dramatic/over acted for me. Voice modulation is key for the listeners enjoyment and to experience the tour while gaining knowledge and understanding. No need to shout at tourists and be obnoxious in order to entertain us or make your point.
Great museum, really engaging and a great tribute to a great city.
Very informative and entertaining! Good value for money and our guide Lara was amazing. It was her first day and she was fab!
