Monte Brasil is an extinct volcano with formation in the sea and where we have a breathtaking view over the city of Angra do Heroísmo. We will have time to walk and appreciate the views, animals, and nature.
Step back in time in São Sebastião, home to one of the oldest churches on Terceira, dating back to 1455. Admire its historic architecture and ancient frescoes. Nearby, visit a traditional Império—a colorful chapel central to the Azorean Holy Spirit festivities—offering insight into the island’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
Praia da Vitória – Free Time to Explore Enjoy some free time in the charming town of Praia da Vitória, birthplace of poet Vitorino Nemésio. Stroll along the sandy beach, wander through the marina and town center, or simply relax at a local café—soaking in the peaceful coastal atmosphere at your own pace.
Step on lava formations that originated true natural pools and, also, the traditional vineyards for the production of wines and liqueurs. Bring your swimsuit because you will have the opportunity to enjoy the water. After this stop, we will have a pause for a lunch where you can enjoy the typical Terceira cuisine.
Algar do Carvão and Alternative Visit Algar do Carvão is currently closed due to construction works. While it is unavailable, we’ll visit a local coffee and fruit farm instead. This alternative stop offers a unique opportunity to explore an organic plantation with bananas, coffee, passion fruits, and more—along with a guided explanation of how coffee is grown and processed on the island. A flavorful and immersive experience in Terceira’s agricultural life!
We continue to Serra do Cume, where we find one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Portugal, with an unforgettable landscape.

Dora was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable! The tour was so much fun -I would definitely recommend!
We had an amazing slow day tour on Terciera Island with Ivo. He created such a welcoming environment. We learned the history of the island, the culture, and saw the amazing scenery. We had a delicious lunch at victory Beach and enjoyed having a private day at our own pace. The day ended with a tour through the lava vents. I would recommend this tour to anyone - we left feeling a great gratitude for and appreciation of Terciera.
It was a very good experience. Guide was very helpful in explaining the stops and gave background info. Our tour guide was also very nice and funny. We even finished early and got taken to a cheese tasting place. Over all it was a very enjoyable experience and a great way to fill up an afternoon.
Our day out in Terceira with our guide, Ivo was a very full, informative and relaxing day. He was awaiting our arrival in the hotel foyer and whisked us away through the twisty, narrow streets of Angra in a large and comfortable vehicle. People were slowly emerging on to the streets after the late night of celebrations before, and looking forward to today’s festivities. We, however, sped through the city streets to the heights of Monte Brasil where we learned about the importance of Angra in history of Portugal. A surprising visit after this was to a lovely couple on the outskirts of the city, yet worlds away in their coffee and fruit plantation. Mr Joe proudly showed us around and explained about coffee production as well as showing us so many fruits he grows. A beautiful spread provided by his wife who has home made jams and chutneys to accompany Joe’s extensive collection of fruit liqueurs that required tasting!! I’m glad Ivo is driving. Onwards through the eastern interior to the Miradouro de Serra do Cume , before heading to Porto Judeu on south east coast, for a wonderful 3 course lunch at Restaurant Rocha with wine including a delicious ‘Alcatra’ (slow cooked traditional meat stew). The ocean views were sublime. Ivo was the perfect guide, with lots of interesting new facts, a great sense of humour, his local knowledge and cultural awareness added to our experience with him. Enjoying an impromptu aircraft spotting side trip above the airport which also houses a US military base, was really interesting and was our choice. Continuing along the north coast Ivo told us about many local community traditions. Our next stop at the Cascata da Frecha was really special - a beautifully secluded wooded area where we enjoyed a ‘surprise’ bottle of fizz to celebrate our years together! The northern coast also revealed a magnificent viewpoint - Miradouro de Alagoa where we walked with Ivo over the basalt rocks and basked in spectacular ocean and high volcanic cliff views. We’d hoped to swim in the natural pools at Biscoitis for our last stop but the sea was too rough, as well as many jellyfish (Portuguese man of war) being present. We loved our walk around the volcanic rock pools and man made walkways on the Oceanside. Another highlight was as we began walking, a family sitting at the café waved and said Hi! It was Mr Joe, his wife and family. A lovely surprise- Ivo said if we’d have accepted their invitation to join them for a drink we would probably have been there all evening!!😂 It summed up our fabulous day filled with new experiences, culture, history, fabulous views and connecting with locals. All in all we loved our full day tour with Ivo who was so accommodating, friendly and chatty.
Ivo was amazing. He was open to what we wanted to see and didn't disappoint. The tour was amazing. Lots of beautiful spots and great company. Would definitely book again.
Ivo and his tour were the highlight of our trip to the Azores. So knowledgeable, great conversation. Every stop was well thought out. Thank you for an incredible experience!
We had the best full day tour of Terceira! Learned so much about the island, had a fabulous Azorean lunch, visited some beautiful spots & our tour guide was so friendly & knowledgeable. Would recommend Terceira Tours to anyone who is visiting the island.
Our guide Ivo blended history, geology, and humor effortlessly, making the island’s culture come alive. If you want a fast but meaningful introduction to Terceira, this tour nails it!!
Very interesting tour. Carolina had been very informative, happy to adjust the tour based on weather conditions and our preferences and she answered all questions. The lunch was excellent featuring typical Terceira dishes. Strongly recommended.
We did a half day walking trail and full day explore of the island with Ivo Silva. Can recommend highly! Ivo adapted our half day hike to fit my ability and it was really memorable seeing the colourful mural along the path at the beginning, the volcanic inlets, and then watching the terns. Perfect for us. On our full day tour we went to the oldest church, learned about imperios and the cultural and community significance of Holy Ghost in people’s lives. We met the oldest improvisation singer on the island, visited Praia de Victoria, sea filled rock pools, had a wonderful lunch, tasted local cheeses and went down inside a volcano / lava vent. It was all unhurried, we had time on our own, Ivo answered our many many questions. Perfect trips. Thank you!
