A relaxing boat trip preceded our journey through the amazing tunnels where we witnessed the light show from the glowworms. Nathan was our fantastic guide. He was incredibly patient and attentive to our daughter’s needs. Being disabled, she sometimes requires extra time to process instructions or directions and Nathan was understanding and supportive throughout the experience. His kindness and engaging manner made the experience so much more enjoyable for her and us. Nathan was very informative and interacted in a relaxed and friendly manner. Along with his fellow team members all visitors were made welcome.
This was an amazing experience with 10/10 views, guides and info. Would definitely recommend.
From start to finish, this trip has you immersed in nature. The boat ride to the cave is about 30mins, with some running commentary from the guide on board. When you get to the jetty at the cave, you’re split into groups and your guide explains what is coming, but cannot come close to describing the beauty you’re about to see. The cave itself is kind of magic. It’s old and has some old energy to it. I’m not into woo woo, but you can’t help but feel it. The boat is the best bit. There are no photos or videos allowed, because you need to have your best night sight activated. Also, you won’t be able to capture them properly. Lean into the screen-less peace, with the rushing water of the cave you’ve just walked through in the background. The ambience is incredible. From there, a short nature walk and then tea/coffee/hot chocolate and an explanation about the life cycle of a glow worm. Watch out for the sandflies, they are everywhere.
Great experience. Surprisingly meditative as you need to be silent in the pitch black. No photos allowed due to screen brightness but our guide sent some she had taken prior to us so we still got some great shots and it allowed us to be present in the moment. Stunning amount of glowworms.
What an amazing experience this was. Getting on the boat at RealNZ dock in Te Anau was so easy. The boat ride across to the cave was lovely. The guides were so informative and friendly. Once there we learnt so much about glow worms and to see them in their natural habitat was amazing. Highly recommend this tour. Did not disappoint !
Brilliant tour amazing scenery on the lake over and then the highlight was the cruise through the cave to the glowworms absolutely loved it friendly staff
Was an awesome experience. Loved every minute of it, boat ride over at night was a cool experience. Our guide Keegan was awesome and was very informative throughout the whole tour! Highly recommended to anyone!
Lovely boat ride across the lake, followed by a fun walk through the cave and then a boat ride inside the cave to see the glowworms in person. A little strange how the staff focused on how weird and gross the glow worms are (they are the larvae/ maggots of flies), rather than talking about how weird and cool it is.
Fantastic experience, great family trip
Not for claustrophobic people but it’s well worth going to see these unique little creatures. The team could not be more helpful. Really enjoyed it.
