Great food, really nice walking tour around the sites of Old Town, and the company was fantastic. Robert is so kind, has a lot of passion, and has one of the most fascinating life stories of anyone I’ve ever met. It was a great day!
First stop was at a food hall where we ate our assorted meats off a metal cart on a common platter while clustered around the entry door. Not comfortable or classy. No drinks and we each got a single napkin and toothpick to feed ourselves. Second stop was the highlight with fondue at a lovely little restaurant local wine. Third stop was unique with ~14 varieties of hot chocolate. A little bit odd on a hot day but interesting. Final stop at a chocolatier, we were given exactly 1 chocolate covered almond each! Our guide bought some additional chocolates which he selected for us—so we each got 2 more. Overall less food that described and well below expectations on the experience.
Our first stop was at a food hall where we stood by the entrance door and ate dried meats off a metal cart with a common platter on it. No plates, just a napkin and toothpick. Awkward especially when there was a seating area. The next stop was the highlight—lovely restaurant in Old Town with cheese fondue and a local wine—more like what I expected based upon reviews. Third stop was unique—we selected a hot chocolates from a menu of ~15 choices which were all different. Final stop we went to a chocolatier where we received exactly 1 chocolate covered almond! For the money we spent ($220 each), there should have been more chocolate. Guide shared some highlights but the history and stories he told were not particularly engaging.
We have been on food tours in various cities in Europe, and, unfortunately, this one was not up to par with the others. In this tour, our guide essentially brought us to different places to try different foods as usual/as expected with a food tour, but did not provide much information about the food itself. When we would go to a place, the guide would be silent unless we asked questions. For example, when taken to a Fondue restaurant, after some silence I had to ask the tour guide what the origin of fondue was. The guide then happily shared the origin which was quite interesting but I do not feel that I should have to ask when I am paying someone to share their expertise about the food and area.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations, especially since you have enjoyed food tours in other European cities. After reading your review, we spoke carefully with your guide to better understand your experience. She told us that she made a point of providing additional explanations throughout the tour and was very attentive to your group. In fact, she was quite surprised by your comments, as she felt she had shared plenty of information and was happy to answer any questions that came up. Knowing her well and having worked with her for a long time, we were surprised too, as she consistently receives excellent feedback for her knowledge and engagement. That said, we also understand that everyone has different expectations of what makes a great food tour. Some guests prefer a more conversational style with opportunities to ask questions, while others expect a more structured narration throughout. We are sorry that, in your case, the experience did not fully match what you were hoping for. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it gives us the opportunity to reflect on our tours and ensure we continue to meet the expectations of as many guests as possible. We wish you all the best in your future travels.
One of the best tours we’ve been on! The food was unbelievable, and the guide, Robert made it an even more memorable experience. His knowledge of the area, and friendless made the tour even better!
Lucas was amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable. He was a pleasure
Ludivine was everything on this tour!! We really appreciated that she knew a lot about history- and not just the regular history that you would hear from a tour guide -but she also gave us context as to why certain historical events occurred in Geneva. The food was excellent too. But my husband and I are both easy to please because we like food, period. Ludi loves food too, and so that made the interaction even more fun. It was nice to take the afternoon to walk around Geneva, learn about different iconic places and get a real taste of the meats, the cheese and the chocolate that makes Geneva what it is. I can't say enough about how engaging she is, and you can really tell that she enjoys the opportunity to teach others about her city. I would highly recommend making a reservation with her!
Robert was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable & thoughtful. I was traveling with my aunt who was struggling a bit with heat and jet lag. Robert was extremely accommodating and pleasant throughout and made our first day in Geneva pleasant.
We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, the sights around the city, and the personalized tour with our guide. Robert was very interesting, personable, and knowledgeable. The meats, cheese fondue, and chocolates were perfect portions. We would happily do this all over again. We highly recommend seeing, tasting and getting to know the city some through this food tour.
Our tour guide, Robert, was fantastic! We enjoyed his personalized tour around the city and would happily do it again all over again. The food portions were just right and gave us a perfect taste of some food highlights in Geneva sprinkled with some historical commentary. Highly recommend!
