Come and enjoy a unique gastronomic experience in the majestic city of Avignon! In the heart of Provence, Avignon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful jewels in the south of France, with its exceptional historical center, its renowned theatre festival and, of course, its delicious Provençal cuisine: aromatic herbs, tomatoes, olive oil, a good glass of Côte du Rhône and sun-ripened fruit. Possible tastings may change according to the season and availabilities of our partners. Let our local food expert walk you through the historic streets of this magnificent "City of the Popes", stopping at its delicious shops, tasting Rhône Valley wine and local specialties.
Inside the local covered market, where the locals run their errands and buy fresh ingredients to cook at home, you will discover the pillars of Provençal cuisine: local olive oil and fresh vegetables, used to prepare the famous tapenade. Here you will also try a slice of the famous pissaladière, a tasty and juicy onion tart with anchovies and olives. One of the most beloved snacks in town (lunch only)
At dinner, you will start with a classic Provençal aperitif! You will sip a refreshing glass of local wine while indulging in delicacies such as cheese or spreads, all depending on the availability of products that arrive every day from local producers (dinner only).
After a stroll along Rue de la République, one of the main streets in town, have a seat in this beautiful local restaurant and try one of their signature dishes: roasted cheese with honey. This unique combination of ingredients will surprise you. A true must have while visiting Avignon!
Place des Corps Saints is a square full of history, dating back to the Roman era. After discovering the secrets of these place, you will indulge in a slice of homemade cake, made of local ingredients like fresh fruit. A true gem, beloved by locals, and the perfect way to continue your tour on a sweet note!
Provence is well known for its fresh ingredients, that are used both for savoury and sweet preparations. In this adorable boutique, you will try some of them, such as honey, jam or flavoured local biscuits. You will taste all these delicacies in a boutique near the Pont d'Avignon, a bridge that was built in XII Century and that still nowadays has preserved some parts of the original construction. This was an enjoyable tour with interesting food and insights into Avignon and Provence. I would recommend it.
Elsa Was very friendly and knowledgeable about the town and was very personable.
The food tour was a wonderful was to tour Avignon! Marina was wonderful and we enjoyed tasting food while touring the city center. Highly recommend!
We had a blast eating our way through Avignon. Our host, Marina, was an excellent guide. She was very knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. A must do in any city.
Very good tour with interesting sights and great food / desserts / information - highly recommended!
The guide was very nice and accommodating to our children. However, we were hoping for a lot more from the tour. We did not get any history of the city or the food we were eating. We just walked around without any description of anything and ate. We felt like we could have done this on our own and did not need a tour. It was not worth our time or money.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear our guide was kind and accommodating with your children. We’re sorry the tour did not meet your expectations regarding the history and cultural insights. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve the experience we provide for our guests.
We had a wonderful time with Marina. She was warm hearted, passionate and open for any communication. She taught us about Avignon and the surrounding area and gave us good recommendations for us to explore. We loved all the stops especially where they’ve put a table in the middle of the hallway of the market We recommend the tour especially with Marina. Thanks a lot.
Our guide was so understanding. She explained some of the local nuances with food like olive oil in ice cream. I plan to try this at home now!!!! She went out of her way to find me a tea shop. She got our dessert to go when she realized we'd miss our train otherwise then went with us to the train station to be sure we were OK. She also explained the local festival going on. She was great. This is worth trying
Our guide Nastassja was well spoken, great English, knowledgeable, gracious and a wonderful host. She introduced us to great food that could replace any full meal. She even provided me with excellent medical skills for a freak accident that involved a person not in our group accidentally cutting my arm. Nothing serious at all, but her care (a bandaid and cleaning of the small cut) was amazing. Top notch experience for sure. 5-star!
Our guide Nastassja was friendly and very informative, an excellent guide.
