The floating village of Kampong Phluk is located 31 kilometers east of Siem Reap, nestled among lush, often-flooded mangroves. Known for its distinctive stilt houses, this fishing village offers an ever-changing landscape due to Cambodia's wet and dry seasons. During the rainy season (July to March ), the water level rises, and locals travel by boat. In the dry season , some walking is required. On this small-group tour, you'll gain an up-close view of the unique lifestyle and culture of this Southeast Asian lake community. Please noted from April to July Dry season The welcoming residents are accustomed to visitors, and the children are especially friendly and inquisitive. Itinerary
At Kampong Phluk we hop in a boat and explore, taking in the beautiful waterways and charming houses on stilts. In dry season you'll be able to see the watermarks on the beams showing how high the waters rise, and in wet season you'll see the villagers and fishermen going about their business by boat.
Going out on the Tonle Sap itself is a deeply calming experience thanks to the still waters meeting the horizon as far as you can see. We round off the day with a drink (and dinner, if you wish) at a traditional floating restaurant to watch the sun set over the lake.

This was by far the best excursion I ever took. I am a solo traveller backpacking around the world. Floating village, local community, mangroves feel reel, not like in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia. Our tour guide Tom was fantastic and showed us in-house living and much more.
