Sunrise Kayaking in Magical Alleppey Backwater Village

Great time kayaking with Tom this morning, even if we had some rain. Sunrise was beautiful and the fried bananas helped before going back to the starting point.

The young guides spent the whole time at the front chatting to each other or on their phones. They glanced back approx 3-4 times in total to check we were there, but weren’t really bothered about anyone’s safety. Seeing the sunrise was spectacular so I’d recommend that, but you can do it in several places. Some moments were ruined by one guide talking so loudly on his phone. The scenery is beautiful so I’d still recommend the trip, but it would be helpful if the guides could act a bit more like they’re doing a paid job. They might also get some tips.

We loved our kayaking experience with Smally at Nadodi Kayaking! Our guide Smally was punctual and friendly. We paddled for about half an hour through the canals of the moonlit villages before getting to the sunrise point. We floated and waited for the sunrise and saw many species of birds flying over head. As sunlight filled the sky, other boats joined the water, such as the iconic Kerala houseboats. We then paddled to a small shop on the water, and had a delicious fried banana and hot tea. Kayaking back to the starting point was very special, to see the morning routines in the villages. Kayaking was the perfect opportunity to get a glimpse of life and nature in Alleppey.

Smally was a great tour guide. Very good experience; was nice to start so early that you see all the colors in the sky. The sun was so large, orange, and majestic! Loved the stop with tea and fried bananas. Fun to see all the houseboats come out as well! Would recommend.

We arrived at the meeting point at 4:45am as we was supposed to be met at 5am, we heard nothing, tried reaching out via trip advisor and by phone call and we heard nothing. For over an hour we waited and we wasn’t contacted once. This was extremely stressful as we had already paid the full amount and we knew we wouldn’t have another chance to go kayaking whilst in Allepey due to our other travel plans. We could sympathise for any reason the trip had to be cancelled but the fact we was totally ignored and still to this day not contacted is unacceptable and unprofessional.

Incredible experience, highly recommend exploring the backwaters by kayak rather than by motor boat, it was so peaceful. Watched the sunrise from the kayak while eating a mango, stopped off for banana fry and tea, chatted with locals. My guide Amal was really lovely, had a great time chatting and exploring the waterways with him

We loved the sunrise kayaking experience and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Alleppey. A really great experience seeing the backwaters coming to life as the sun rises. We felt very safe at all times with our guide who was really nice and got to stop for a coffee halfway through the trip.

Very nice Tour in a small group. I can definetively recommend the tour in the morning. The canals are quiet and the light is good for taking pictures. The short break for coffee and Banana Fritters was also good.
