Fascinating Vasa Museum

It was wonderful seeing the square, Old Town, the Royal Palace and the many other things along the way. Also going to the island with all the different museums was awesome. The Vasa Museum is amazing!!! We could have spent hours there. Seeing the ship that had sunk and was brought up years later was breathtaking. And then all of the exhibits of items from the ship that were displayed gave a true insight into things on the ship. The film showing how the ship was found and brought to the surface was fascinating!!! Definitely worth the time. I would definitely recommend a tour guide. Had we not had a tour guide we would have waited probably for hours to get in. The tour guides have a special entrance. Well worth the money!!!! There is also a nice amusement park on the island and many, many places for food and drinks. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour hosted by...

Fantastic tour hosted by very knowledgeable Zana. Was a great way to see a lot in a short time. Good way to find places I wanted to explore in depth. I was very happy they still had the tour even though I was the only participant.

Gabriel's Vasa

We began our 3-hour tour with a stroll around the Old Town accompanied by interesting tales of Stockholm history and culture narrated by our extremely well-informed guide, Gabriel. He made history come alive with detailed and entertaining stories of “how it used to be.” Our walk was followed by a boat ride to Djurgården where we visited the maritime Vasa Museum to explore the warship of the same name that sank in 1628 on its maiden voyage. Had our schedule not been so tight we might have also visited many other museums including the outdoor museum Skansen, located nearby. This is also where locals frequent the Gröna Lund amusement park. Indeed, upon arrival, as the boat approached our destination we could hear the screams of roller coaster riders experiencing a momentary, but expected, thrill. Whether you visit the Vasa Museum on your own or with a private tour guide (as we did) it is a MUST see. However, I believe the $102.84 per person price tag for a personal tour guide gave us a much more thorough understanding of what happened and why, a truly fascinating look into a brief time in Stockholm’s history. There are a few lessons to be learned here.

Nice tour

This tour gave a nice overview of Stockholms history. Of course, the Vasa museum was a must see and having a guide made it even better. It is a great way to explore and find things you may wish to explore further.

Peter was absolutely amazing. As a retired historian who worked at the Vasa museum we felt like we had an unparalleled historical tour off Stockholm. He was so polite well prepared with pictures and historical references. the tour also starts before all the tourists are out so it very peaceful. An absolute must we were blown away with this tour.
