The Old City Gates once marked the northern entrance to St. Augustine’s walled colonial city. Built of coquina stone, they remain one of the city’s most iconic historic landmarks and a fitting starting point for the tour.
Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. Built by the Spanish from coquina stone, it has guarded St. Augustine since the late 1600s and remains one of the city’s most important landmarks. No entry on the premises.
The Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse is a charming St. Augustine landmark dating back to the early 1700s. Built of red cedar and cypress, it offers a glimpse into colonial-era education and daily life. No entry on the premises.

Very nice guide. Even with the less than perfect weather

Our Tour Guide is a native of St. Augustine and was knowledgeable about its history. At first, I was unsure if the ghost stories would be heard but after the first 15 minutes or so, the stories began. She was very soft-spoken, which made it difficult to hear her. She did give us some good ghost stories though. It would have been better had she been more engaged with everyone in our group (there were only four of us...my family) rather than always directing them at me. Just something that comes with experience. :) Overall, it was a nice tour.
