Discover Barolo — often called the “King of Wines and the Wine of Kings” — on a small-group journey from Milan into the vineyard hills of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage wine landscape. Travel in a comfortable small group with an English-speaking guide. The first stop is Alba, the world capital of white truffles and the birthplace of Nutella. Enjoy 2 hours of free time to stroll the historic center and enjoy lunch. From Alba, continue into the Barolo wine region to visit a family-run winery with spectacular views over the Langhe hills. Enter the traditional cellar, meet the producers, and enjoy a guided tasting of 7 wines, including Barolo, while learning about local vineyards and winemaking traditions. The day also includes a stop at Grinzane Cavour Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by vineyards and one of the iconic viewpoints in the Langhe. (On Tuesdays, when the castle is closed, the stop is replaced by a panoramic viewpoint in La Morra or Barbaresco.)

Alba is known for its historic charm, excellent cuisine, and the famous White Truffle Fair, held on weekends in October and November. Explore the medieval towers and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the town’s main cathedral. Browse local shops for some of the world’s best hazelnut cream, or enjoy lunch in a small, traditional restaurant serving Piedmont specialties such as fresh egg pasta and veal with tuna sauce.
Visit a family-run winery in a panoramic setting surrounded by vineyards. Enter the cellars and learn directly from the winemakers about the production of Barolo, a strictly regulated wine made only from Nebbiolo grapes, with precise rules governing vineyard location, aging, and classification. Discover how each hill and vineyard has its own name and character, influencing structure, aroma, and aging potential. Taste at least six DOC and DOCG red wines, sometimes seven, including Barolo, during a guided tasting focused on quality, terroir, terroir expression, and local tradition.
Enjoy a visit to a medieval castle listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering panoramic views over the Langhe hills and surrounding vineyards. Inside the castle, visit the historic wine shop, considered the oldest in the Piedmont region, and learn about its close connection to Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour. Cavour played a key role in the development of Barolo wine, promoting modern winemaking methods and helping transform Barolo from a local product into an internationally respected wine. Please note: on Tuesdays, when the castle is closed, the visit is replaced with a stop at a panoramic viewpoint in La Morra, known for some of the best vineyard views in the Barolo region.

We had the best time. Even though it was a holiday in Italy, Oleg made sure we got the full experience, even the truffle tasting! Wine tasting was first class. Oleg, our host, made sure we all got the experience we paid for. The small bus was so comfortable. Oleg had a lot of the information about the places we visited. Definitely a must do if you are in the Milan area.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience. The locations we visited and wine were outstanding. The tour guide Oleg was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Our small‑group Barolo tour was outstanding, thanks to our guide Oleg and our driver Fabio. Oleg brought the region to life with his deep knowledge of Barolo, the vineyards, and the history behind each producer, while Fabio kept the ride smooth and relaxed through the beautiful hills around Corvino.
Oleg was absolutely amazing! We went to alba and he arranged a truffle and hazelnut tasting for us and provided a list of amazing restaurants to try. We went to a stunning winery and had 8 different types of wine. The views from the castle were stunning. Overall, everything went seamless and it was very engaging.
I often forget to write reviews but right now I’m on my way back to Milano from a beautiful, intimate, funny and informative tour with Stefano De Paolo as our guide from Abroads Tours. This is my first time in Italy and there truly couldn't have been a better introduction to this country. Stefano had a wealth of local knowledge and really brought us off the beaten path to get such authentic experiences with small local family-run businesses who are the heart of this region and so deserving of recognition. We were able to see, taste and feel all this area of Italy has to offer. I also learned so much about Italy in general - the history and culture and why things are as they are in this day and age. His humor and wit added an extra dimension that made the day feel like being shown around by a dear old friend. We had such an amazing day today! This Barolo wine tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy! My sister and I had such an amazing time exploring the beautiful Piedmont countryside. The castle, Alba and vineyard we visited were absolutely incredible. At the vineyard, the wine was exceptional, the staff was so generous and lovely, and the setting was stunning. We learned so much about the Barolo winemaking process as well. Stefano was so friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable wine experience in Italy, we highly recommend this tour and would absolutely do it again!!

We had such an incredible day exploring Alba and the beautiful piedmont wine region! This tour was so much fun. Loved that it was so small and that they focus on local businesses and not tourist areas. Stephano is so knowledgeable about history and knows so much about the trip that you get so much more out of it. He focuses on small tours and locale places which makes it unique and interesting.
