Sicilian puppets in Syracuse: show with behind-the-scenes visit

Description
Having to decide what to see in Syracuse, this cannot be missing. It was 2008 when UNESCO registered the Opera dei Pupi among the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. It was the first Italian heritage to be included on this list. For this reason, if you are wondering what to do in Sicily, one of the simplest answers is to attend such a show: an experience not to be missed. And thanks to SiciLife you can take a real journey into the art of puppeteers.

Beautiful experience. Small but very cute theater. We were enchanted throughout the entire performance. Very talented actors and puppets just waiting to be discovered. Our son's curious little eyes wanted the show to never end. Afterward, he forced us to review Orlando Furioso because he wanted to hear the whole story again. The guys from the company also introduced the story in English. It was a nice way to start our vacation in Syracuse.
Good traditional family outing
the time was changed to 1hr 30m later when i arrived there without letting me know so I had to wait - the order of tour behind scene and then show was also changed so I missed the tour afterwards and had to pay a large sum of money to not miss the pre booked bus back to Catania Euro
I knew this would be a unique experience for my family but, I was just as amazed. The size of the puppets was our first surprise and the skill of the puppet masters was absolutely amazing. This is a must activity for children, teens and adults as well! It is so wonderful that this art form is being kept alive and shared with Sicilians and visitors as well.
If you are going to the puppet show YOU MUST BOOK the behind the scenes show where you get to work the puppets. The show itself is spectacular but in Italian. You can understand the story but wished I knew what they were saying all the time.
The Sicilian puppet theatre in Ortigia is not to be missed. It was enchanting, and the behind-the-scenes pre-show tour added to our appreciation of this craft.
The behind the scenes tour prior to the show was fascinating. It was helpful to understand the history of this art form and how the craft works. Paolo was amazing and his passion, enthusiasm and respect for this ancient art form was inspiring. The show was incredible. A must see when visiting Ortigia
a round of applause for the guys at the puppet theater who, with great professionalism and friendliness, welcome the audience on a truly magical journey that blends literature, art, and Sicilian culture.
Interesting art form. Show is in Italian. Enjoyed behind the scenes explanation. Woman providing the behind the scenes discussion spoke very good English and is also a stage actor.
A wonderful opportunity to see such authentic, quality theatre . Very professional and entertaining.
